I wasn't there to see the spring game on the 15th. Going off press offense is not balanced yet . Those who were there what improvements on offense are needed
IMHO, it's all about the O line development. They did show improvement over the spring, but they have a ways to go yet. They are, as a group, quite young. It may take a while to get it together. I'm sure that they, and the coaches, know it and are working hard on it.Mrizreal22 said:I wasn't there to see the spring game on the 15th. Going off press offense is not balanced yet . Right now, the Cats only have Baron Bruce and Iosua Opeta coming back. Chase Larson, Cameron Young, and Calvin Styen all graduated for the Cats leaving three major holes. Larson only started one season, but the two games he missed, Weber lost both. Young was a four year starter and Styen a two year starter. That is a lot of experience being lost by the Cats.
Who started for the 1st team on Saturday?
I thought the QBs looked solid when they had the time to make their reads. They seldom had any time. There were injuries that kept some of the WRs out of the game, they will be okay. Three red shirt freshmen got most of the reps on the O line and they did show improvement from the previous week's scrimmage. If the O line, as a group, can get better by fall, our offense will be good.SWeberCat02 said:N.OgdenCat said:I didn't get a chance to go to the spring game, but I tend to agree that the biggest area of concern is with our OL. I'm concerned about the offense, especially the QB, OL, and WR positions. TE's and RB's both look solid.
As mentioned, the OL returns two starters in Bruce and Opeta, who both started all 12 games. Only other one that saw any real playing time was Simpson who played in 8 games, starting 2. Other than that there's 1 Jr and 2 Sophs who haven't played much, and a whole bunch of redshirt freshman and true freshman (possibly up to 10). Will be interesting to see how they progress this summer and fall.
On the positive, the D looks to be solid again.
