SR reports: New Video scoreboards at Roos and Reese

GREAT NEWS!!! :notworthy: :notworthy: :notworthy: :notworthy:

Weird that I first saw your tweet on this, as I don't check twitter that often. Thanks for the heads up Jim!

and will be “very proportionate to the size of Roos Field,” Chaves said.

“I’ve been in stadiums where you wish it was a little bigger,” Chaves said. “But we’re not going to have that issue at all.”

Kind of contradictory statements. Roos isn't all that big. Hopefully it's proportionate to an expanded "Project Gateway" Roos.

Exactly my thoughts, however i think the statement about "Wish it was a little bigger" is a sign that we as former players & fans will be please with the size of the videoboard.

Chaves, Westfall, Hughes and everyone involved in the expansion project and all improvements have a good vision of the big picture and the future so I am confident this board will have some WOW factor that will be the first step in the Gateway project. It is not only a good day to be an Eagle fan but a good year!!
Think of this, the first team we played on the new turf- Frizzlies- you know the result. First visiting team to be on the new video board- Frizzlies- predictable results!!

The new scoreboard will be in place by September 1st! :thumb:

This is so awesome! The biggest eye sore of the stadium is the old faded red/orange scoreboard. Glad to see the a vested interest in making Roos one of the premier stadiums in the big sky.

I believe the scoreboard image on EWU's website already predicted the results 8-)

Also, from some boner on the SR website..

"It is wise fiscal policy to invest in structures that get used about twenty times a year. At most.

Especially while raising tuition double digits each year.

Yeah, yeah, yeah, I know it’s not from public monies, but I always thought once funds were donated to a university they became public. I was a treasurer at a local community college for the student body and there were always carryover funds from fees collected from students that remained unspent. The students didn’t receive refunds, the money, by law, became state property."

I have had 10x more people ask me about EWU since we won the ship than before. Investing in this football team is the smartest move the university could make.

This writer's viewpoint is one that always annoys me. In addition to ignoring the good that a successful athletic program brings to an academic institution in terms of name recognition, it presumes that the writer and his ilk have the moral prerogative to decide how to spend money other people donate. There were several comments of this type critizing Michael Roos when he made the turf donation (completely ignoring or discounting all the other charitable work his foundation does in the area). How about this writer makes his donation to the causes he wishes to support and respects the projects other people support. I wouldn't expect to inject my biases into his giving, I don't know why he should feel free to do it in mine or others that support this project.
