Staff Changes

Saw on footbalscoop.com a number of changes. Parker is now the DE and ST. Kelly was the ST coordinator last year. Thought there were some good things. But could be a good change. I can see they lighten his load now he is just the TE and recruiting coordinator. Montgomery too RB makes sense. Been a GA for a while. The biggest ? Is Lawanson to DC. He was a defensive coach at Tulane a while ago and then a HS coach. Then a QC at ASU. Where does the DC part come in? I could see if he actually coached defense while he was here, odd choice.

Who is the O Line coach going to be that is the question. Hope we do not go with some retread. We saw how that worked out. Laveroni had coached in a super bowl and D1 levels but he was past his prime for sure. The O Line got worst every year. This was the worst yet. Terrible. Get a young energetic coach not some old timer please.

With these changes we better return to at least the .500 mark. Otherwise I am not feeling this staff at all.

So, do I have this right? Anthony Parker was initially hired to coach the secondary because he was supposed to be some kind of DB guru...he then ended up being elevated to the DC position until he proved that promotion was well above his ability...at that point he is demoted to coaching the safeties...and now he has been reassigned to coaching the defensive ends?

Seems we are getting too many 330+lb fatso's on the line. What happened to athletic (quick), muscular linemen? Instead of getting a HS kid who is 260 and applying the weightroom to get to 280-290, we are recruiting the Golden Corral buffet line.

Sperbeck seemed to develop players physically better, Sears just buys the jumbo package up front and gets too much lard.

Being obese is not a requisite for being a good lineman.

Not surprised to see staff changes following a 1 D1 win season. There was a coach that came on the market in our own back yard that had ST and safeties experience, Sears could have addressed two positions with one hire.

It appears we have a new OL coach.

Awesome pickup! If Sears doesn't work we have another ready made HC on staff.

That was my surmise.

While all y'all know my top picks, you can add Wulff to that list.

Wulff hire is good, just hope this is not another Laveroni. He had great experiences too including coaching in the Super Bowl and saw how that worked out. Wulff hasn't really had success sense Eastern Washington. SF he was there but did not coach a position. South Florida was short lived with one of worst offense in country and out of work since. Obviously Wulff and Sears are close working together at EWU and Washington State. So let's not sit here and think Wulff would be the next HC.

Why not? Sears got the HC gig without any success. Just using the logic of the Hornet brass.

With Sperbeck recruits and a low BSC that year. I'm willing to give Sears a few years, but last year was Moosh proud.
GCM you are on a roll in this thread.

We had a stacked roster for the 2014 season coupled with a soft schedule, probably should have been a playoff year. Sears gets credit for keeping the team together following the Sperbeck ouster/turmoil. Right place, right time for Sears to land an extension.

The Hornets got better with this hire. Better than any recruit you could have wished for. He did coach for a few games at the end of the season @ Iowa State, before the change of head coach there as well. Paul has been the victim of bad timing for his last few jobs. He is a great coach and better recruiter.

Feel really sorry for you guys, Wulff and Sears are clowns. You will be lucky if you don't lose 3 QBs the first year. Line play under Wulff was the worst I have ever seen at wsu. 1st year 2 QBs lost in one game with broken bones in their backs, next one lasted 3 weeks then blew out knee. His last year starter broken collar bone in 1st game back up lacerated liver vs Utah. They gave up 71 sacks his last year and was the line coach.

Sears defenses gave up over 60 points like 8 times in 4 years.

Also not a good recruiter at all. Look at all the kids he brought to wsu and got arrested, like 28. Took leach almost 4 years to purge the mess he left.

Have fun
