Satire aside, this column is a pile of crap. Mark Saal has a long history of writing condescending half-researched articles about WSU athletics. Douchebag... :ohno:

This guy says he cares about Weber State football. So, put your money where your mouth is you dooshbag. Attending ONE game makes him an expert?? Go back to the hole that you crawled out of leave you opinion to yourself. If he has been a long time season ticket holder, regular contributor to the athletic dept, or etc, then his opinion MIGHT mean something. This guy is one of the reasons that people in this community do not support WSU athletics. They think that WSU is exceptionally inferior to all other University sports programs here in the state. BTW sir, DO NOT ATTEND ANOTHER WSU ATHLETIC FUNCTION!!!! YOU ARE NOT WELCOME.

Who down at the SE would allow for this to go to print? If someone could find out who I need to write/call to complain to, I gladly will. I am strongly considering canceling the SE after this crap. How does he have the balls to compare WSU to WHS???? :yikes:

Wow, no love for Saal. I love Mark Saal's articles and his humor. Everyone knows almost everything he writes is satire, right? If you can't laugh at yourself, you're taking things too seriously. Don't run off ANY paying customer-- no matter how much their ticket cost-- WSU attendance needs every one of them.

It was actually good to see that many people step up to the plate and comment on the article. I read a few stories on SE and not many if any comment and to see that many comments was alarming enough that Mark himself apologized.
I do agree that tickets are a little over priced. I believe that someone on here once said they would rather see cheap tickets with a$$s in the seats than expensive tickets with few in the seats. More ppl in the seats with cheap tickets woudnt necessarily mean more revenue at games but could compel ppl to go to other events or buy apparel.

True, but Saal's satire is more-often-then-not like a kid poking a stick at a dog while safely behind a fence. He's wildly arrogant and intentionally says obnoxious crap to try and live up to his "image." A wannabe Skip Bayless, if you will (although he seldom writes about sports). He's a shameless self-promoter that would probably have to pick his teeth up off the ground if he said half the crap he writes about people while physically in their presence. :jack:

Here's a much better one from Jim Burton, which came out today. He at least provides thoughtful insight and does a much better job utilizing a thing called research before popping his mouth off. And he still manages to be clever and funny in his columns.

Oh, one more than one occasion I've told him this to his face. He knows damn well how I feel about him.

Some people would call his comment an apology. If it is an apology, it is the most backhanded one I have ever heard. He is not apologizing for anything. This type of guy would not be recruited to play here by any of the current coaches. If he were, I believe he wouldn't stick around very long.
