QB. Gubrud
RB Antoine Custer
WR. Splendorio
WR. Webster
WR. Grady
TE. Gilder
T. Ellison
G. Taylor
C. Blackburn
G. Myer
T. Schlicting
Deep at RB with Pierce and Mcpherson.
Deep at WR with Stiles, Williams and others.
Talolo Limu Jones could push for the starting TE spot with Belk and Byus providing depth in multi TE sets.
OL looks deep big and physical!
I think the surprise unit on this list will be the TE's as they will benefit from a new running game and play action passes. Look for Gilder, Jones and company to combine for 40 catches, 600 yds and 8 TDs.

I think this is pretty accurate. I might suggest it's unlikely that both Webster and Sblendorio start as both are guys who'll be playing more on the inside than on the outside. My guess would be to replace one of those guys with Stiles.
I couldn't agree more. I was at almost every scrimmage this spring and we've got some "backup" WR's that I don't think are "backups." The crazy part is, after watching film on all of our incoming true freshman WR's, I think there might be at least 2 of them that are already as talented as the guys we have now (if not more talented). I understand that it will take them a little time to adjust to the speed of the college game, but once they figure it out.....rontheoldwiseeagle2 said:LDopaPDX said:Jibjab68 said:Good question. AS good as the WR's you listed are they may not all start, if what I saw at the Spring game holds up in the fall, it will a dog fight to get on the starting line for some of these Wide outs. What a great problem to have

As far as tight end is concerned, I am beyond excited about what Jones brings to the table. This kid is FREAKISH in the best sense of the word. When you look at his size and athletic skillset, they are uncommon. He can play at the end of the line with his hand in the dirt, or you can split him out and he can out-jump and out-muscle you. After watching him this spring, I have no problems if we only play him at wide-out. At 6'5" 240 lbs, he is going to give DB's at the FBS and FCS level all they can handle. He is a very gifted basketball player and just an awesome athlete. I think he has the potential to turn into the BIG SKY's version of Jimmy Gram. After reading Baldwin's comments about this kid, I think we could have something special on our hands here. Time will tell...
I agree with what's been stated about the O-line starters. Our starters are massive. Haven't crunched the numbers but they have to average 6'4" 315 lbs. Not a lot of mystery there although we do have some incoming freshman that intrigue me. I'm assuming they'll redshirt.
As far as RB goes, I think Custer probably starts most games, but I think Pierce and McPherson continue to play significant snaps. I believe Best wants to wear teams down and run the ball in the 4th quarter and those two will play a large role there. That being said, over the course of the season my guess is that the ratio will go something like this:
Custer - 42%
Pierce - 38%
McPherson - 20%
All speculative, but those are my thoughts and predictions.
This offense has all the parts it needs to be extremely successful. There are quite a few variables though that even talented teams need to work through. Once we hit our rhythm, SKY's the limit.
go eags!

I'm ready for Texas
The football program should make and sell t-shirts that say, "Finish WHERE You Started." I would buy one.rontheoldwiseeagle2 said:clawman said:Jibjab68 said:Imagine Grady at 6'5, Jones at 6'5, Gilder at 6'4 245# and a speedy Splendo or Webster on the field.

Ya, Texas in Sept and Texas in Jan.

I agree with you about Jones in terms of his talent and speed. Will create serious mismatches and be a terror on LBs and Safeties. My only concern is with his blocking ability. He is a year or two away in the online blocking physicality portion of his game. I have heard that Gilder is a beast in the weight room! One of the top 10 strongest players on the entire team. From what little ive seen of him since he was injured for spring ball is that he has adequate speed, doesnt drop passes and is a top tier blocker. With an added focus on the run game I wouldnt be surprised to see both of them in the game at the same time. Imagine Grady at 6'5, Jones at 6'5, Gilder at 6'4 245# and a speedy Splendo or Webster on the field.
