stats-penalties

I have to start by saying how proud I am of the fight, hustle, and work ethic I see in this team, outstanding!
But... the excessive penalties is irritating and dangerous. Dangerous because it WILL cost us a game at some point.
Today there were 9 penalties for 89 yards, many by Seniors, but what the stats dont tell you is the TD called back, the 1st down called back, the 1st down given to them on 4th down. Much more impact on the game than the 89 yards penalized. If a player costs the team, 1st down, TD, and a team mate getting injured to mention the obvious can we afford to have him on the field? Regardless how good he might be in practice I dont think so.
Treat penalties like targeting, you cost your team and you sit out.

Good discussion topic... WAY too many penalties this season. With the exception on the recent bad form of the receivers, this is probably the most troubling item persisting with an otherwise well-played season.

Of course, not all penalties are equal, and some are circumstantial more than just player mistakes. Without reviewing the actual calls, I couldn't say how each happened. The worthless holding calls downfield or on the perimeter are the most painful, and we had a few of those.
