Unreal, but that's ok, let's play for championships and not rankings in the poll...time will tell. We need to go to EWU, put a beat-down on them, and keep rolling. Plain and simple....we just gotta do what we do.....

Coaches poll still has EWU ranked at #22. Unreal. Must be one of the first 0-4 teams ranked ever.
is coaches poll updated yet? Coaches is by far the worst poll always.
Just looked at it again and it isn't updated. So my post was wrong. My bad.

Collegetop25.com is a great poll site. It combines the coaches polls, TSN, and the other computer rankings. It also has links to all the rankings and sites. We are moving up but we need a big win against EWU to get ranked! GO WILDCATS!

Once again, in regards to EWU getting votes, just like that one crappy song says, "It wasn't me." The only Big Sky schools I gave votes to were Montana State and WSU. Nobody else impresses me enough up to this point to warrant a ranking. I was a bit shocked to see that Southern Utah didn't get a higher ranking after their beatdown of UNLV, but thus is life with the east-coast bias in FCS polls. Here is the poll I submitted for this week. Any gripes?

Rankings Report for mgerrish
for 09/25/2011
Rank Team
1 Northern Iowa
2 Georgia Southern
3 Montana State
4 Appalachian State
5 Delaware
6 North Dakota State
7 New Hampshire
8 Wofford
9 Southern Utah
10 James Madison
11 William & Mary
12 Lehigh
13 McNeese State
14 Southern Illinois
15 Chattanooga
16 Richmond
17 Massachusetts
18 Weber State
19 Sam Houston State
20 Jacksonville State
21 Murray State
22 South Carolina State
23 Towson
24 South Dakota
25 Alabama State

Beating an 0-4 team will impress the voters this week.
:sarcasm:

Seriously, I think if Weber wins this game, they debut in the polls at about 18. :thumb:

hawks, im glad to see you didnt vote for ewu, YIKES - 50 votes! i also agree suu is top 10.

dont be offended by this as there are tons of voters but overall i feel the tsn poll is honestly a joke. didnt isu have votes last week? lol
isu had a number of votes last yr in this very poll. that is a complete joke.
the tsn poll doesnt really mean much, it is just for fun, kinda like the AP in basketball.

if your not getting a seed in the playoffs it doenst mean anything to be a top 10 team in that poll and the seeds arent even based on the tsn. it has no value. again, idaho st had votes last yr and went 1-10. ewu is 0-4 and almost ranked this week. griz could be 0-6 and be ranked in this poll.

if we r ranked next week it will be because other teams lost.

You are absolutely right. Most polls shouldn't be taken seriously. If you do, you will always be disappointed. I do however think the polls are taken into consideration when the playoff voting panel selects at-large bids for the FCS playoffs.

There is some value there and maybe even to some players (giving them something to play for). But mostly, these are for the fans. If it wasn't for these polls would the average fan really know much about what was going on outside of their own favorite team's conference? Probably not. If anything, it educates the masses at least a little bit about the rest of the country and other FCS teams.

They never have been and never will be entirely accurate (not to mention the skewed East-coast bias that comes into play in these things), but in the end, it isn't voters who decide who the best teams are, it's the teams on the field.

:blah: That's all it is. Half of those teams in the Top 25 are there only because they have recognizable names.

Or they beat teams that they were not supposed to beat, aka Sac St beating Oregon St, and SUU beating UNLV.

I think WSU is being highly overlooked but so far we have beat the teams we should and have lost to the teams we were projected to lose to. WSU needs to keep winning and that will get them the name recognition and respect they deserve.

(unfortunately again this week even if WSU wins they are beating a team that is 0-4, and no matter how good the Eagles are it probably won't mean much at a national scale)

Name one "recognizable" name other than Appy State. And yeah, they are freakin good almost every year. I doubt the likes of Delaware and McNeese State consider themselves "recognizable."

Montana is there at #19 and they are only there because of their name. A 2-2 team should not be there unless those two loses are to FBS schools. They lost at Tennessee and that is to be expected. They beat Cal Poly and EWU at home, both respectable teams and good wins.
Losing to Sac on the road? I think they should have dropped out of the rankings at that point.

Deleware and Mcneese are some of the most recognized FCS schools, so thanks for solidifying my point. Montana, E. Wash, & NDSU all have a historical name and thus are ranked. None have proven anything yet and two of them have proven they probably don't belong. Schools like Weber have to beat a Wyoming or Montana to finally be considered.

The polls do matter at the end of the year because they will have a role in our power ranking and thus regional seedings for playoff position.

If we continue take care of business over the next few weeks we will get the appropriate rankings when we need it.
