Stopping SHSU's Offense

It seems we have the athletes to get aggressive. Don't think we should always be bending. We need to punch them in the mouth.

Load the box with tough man-to-man in the secondary?

This. We need to play more aggressive on defense. We need to stop their running game and force them to throw it. I think our secondary is good enough to be left out to dry a little bit. If they make a big play here or there through the air, then so be it. But we absolutely cannot allow them to hang on to the ball as much as they did in the first half of last year's semi's. Gotta stop the run. Playing your LB's and corners way off of the LOS isn't going to work. They wanna run the ball with their QB, get physical with him and put him on his ass. He has shown that he can get rattled (see last 2 years NC game).

Agreed, I can handle giving up a couple through the air if it means our offense isn't on the sideline the entire game. Anyone know if there's any copies of the semi-final online anywhere? I want to see what the Eagles did in the second half of the game to stop them.

I watched in on ESPN3 a couple weeks ago. If you have an account, you can watch most of last season's games, including the majority of the FCS playoffs.

Probably more of Graham's "everything in front of you" game planning. Don't give up the big play, etc.
And I have a problem with that. It won't work.

Agreed. I hate the way we play defense. We underperform for our talent level. I'd rather give up the random big play than get nickel and dimed to death by their running game.

I will say the big factor in this game will be our first series defensively. If we can force a punt, I think we're in good shape. If they walk right down the field and score, you know that means it's going to take 3-4 series to settle in, and that just won't work against a team this good.

Huntsville weather forecast tomorrow, 90 degrees, chance of Tstorms and humid.

I think our depth at DL is going to help us tomorrow. The freshman guys, Ebukam, Douglas and Sommer have gained a lot of experience and will give our starters valuable rest.

Also Albert Havili, another true freshman is playing good.

In the limited time he has played, I have been VERY impressed with Havili. He has straight crushed a couple of people.
