Street and Smith 2017 Big Sky football prediction
1. Weber St
2. EWU
3. UND
4. NAU
5. Poly
6. So Utah
7. UNC
8. Montana
9. Montana St
10. Portland St
11. UC Davis
12. Sac St
13. Idaho St.

Could happen if our QB play is any good.

Glad to see that Street & Smith's College Football magazine is back after some absence...always enjoyed it the most in past years, simply because it had pretty good coverage for the FCSers as well. Lindy's is another one.

May it's football preview picks come true, at least for the Wildcats of Weber State. But the QB play will be key as well as the overall offensive performance & no key injuries. Could be a crap shoot picking #1 in the BSC this next season, lots of possibilities. :thumb:

SE's Garside picks UND, EWU...Weber State #5 http://www.standard.net/Weber-State/2017/06/03/2017-big-sky-football-preseason-poll-predictions-weber-state.html

Best part of this prediction is going over to egriz and reading their reaction. Pure meltdown going on in Missoula!!

I'd like to read the article behind why S&S is predicting Weber #1. Yes, it is possible and I could see the Cats winning the Sky, but there are some glaring issues with our team: offensive line, receivers, running back depth, and field goal kicking. I'm not to worried about the QB situation. We have two guys who have been in the program and have some experience. Both have a lot of talent and will push each other quite a bit. However, neither will look good, if they don't have any time to work the plays. Gotta get better on the offensive line and they need targets and guys to carry the rock.

My prediction right now would be:
1. UND
2. NAU
3. EWU
4. WSU
5. SUU
6. MSU
7. UM
8. Poly
9. NCU
10. PSU
11. SAC
12. Davis
13. ISU

OL play did not look very good in spring ball. It could have had something to do with injuries, lack of depth, inexperience, a better than expected DL, or a combination of all of that. I won't be too worried about it until the season gets going. I expect that most of those things will even out a bit as our new players enter the program, either from HS, RMs, rehab, or JCs. I can't really judge until we have a full contingent. Same is true at every position. I do think that our defense has continued to get better every year and I don't see that changing one bit. I see us as a top three team in the BSC. Our coaching staff has raised us up every year they have been here. We have had good recruiting classes and a lot of missionary kids. Our depth is much better than it ever has been. I have a positive outlook on our chances.

Looks like Weber is predicted to be 8th overall. Our coaching staff has proven to be outright winners and we have some absolute studs on the team! With the schedule we have, this could definitely be a special season. Get your popcorn ready!

There is nothing I would like more than for Street and Smith's ranking to turn out true.

I think it is possible, but like others pointed out we have issues to solve. Our schedule as well is intimidating. Just look at our Conference road slate.

@ MSU
@ Poly
@ Eastern (again)
@ Port State

And two rough home games against SUU and Montana

If Weber is able to win the Big Sky this year, not even Montana or Eastern fans will be able to say we didn't earn it.

Honestly I have Weber finishing around 4th.

1. NAU
2. EWU
3. UND
4. WSU
5. SUU
6. Poly
7. MSU
8. UM
9. UNC

Who is NCU?? I know there is a University of Northern Colorado, and they have uNc on their football helmets, but is NCU a new member of the conference? I'm glad you're picking UWS 4th. I can see that happening.

Beardown, I am sorry for the NCU. That was very Egriz of me. UNCO...it is. As for the Cubbies, I'm not sure where to put them. I could see progress from last season or a complete dumpster fire. Who knows...the Sky has a lot of question marks. I just don't feel comfortable with Weber being #1. Defensively, the Cats have the potential to be the top team in the conference, but offensively, I am worried.
