How long of a contract did the new volleyball coach receive? Young kids or not, at this rate we will lose the rest of our games and go from a perennial power to another footstone.

I am concerned.

Don't worry GCM. Its not Volta's fault. Last year the cupboard was stacked to try and make a deep run into the NCAA's for Debby's going away party. The freshman are coming along real quick. We lost both starting outside hitters, both starting middle hitters and a decent libero in the backcourt. That is tough to overcome, no matter what program it is. Unfortunately, since you can only see what is on the stat sheet or on BSCTV, its hard see everything else.

This is a down year, but we will be back.

I hope you're right SHA, it's been painful to see the losses piling up every time I click to HornetSports.com...

Agreed about the losses, but this program is one of tradition and it will not stay down for long. Hey, conference play starts this week. A new season for the girls on the team and they just have to put away the first month in the back of their minds and focus forward.

Perhaps the wrong choice was made. However, it's WAY too soon to know for sure.

Incidentally, there's a coach available...at the Manure Pile, of all places. Addie Hauschild grew up within walking distance of Sac State, but told that she was "too good" to play for the Hornets (at the time, mid-'90s, Sac WVB sucked), and steered her to UOP, which was really good at the time, though something would be held for her if things didn't work out. Needless to say, Addie turned out to be one of the best players in the history of the UOP program, certainly the best middle blocker ever there, with a shot at the National Team and a Libero of the Year honor in the USPV. UOP made a mistake in not hiring her when Jayne Gibson-McHugh imploded. Addie has HC experience at the HS level, something McHugh did NOT have when hired.

Perhaps if UOP doesn't pull the trigger when Charlie Wade blows it, Sac will.

That works IF Colberg's successor doesn't work out. It will take a couple of years for Sac to adequately and fairly make that decision.
