Can anyone tell me why the Sun Belt Conference is a FBS conference? Most of the members of said conference would have a difficult time competing in the Sky. Honestly, the Sun Belt and the Sky should have a football or basketball challenge each season. I can virutally guarantee that the top five or six Sky teams could each compete in the Sun Belt, and that the top teams could possibly capture the conference crown.

To be honest, the whole purpose of this thread is to show the parity that now exists among top tiered FCS teams and low to mid level FBS teams. I don't know why a low level FBS team wouldn't want to drop down to FCS and compete for a realistic national champion (realistic in the fact that a playoff decides the champion and not ESPN).

Not only is there a playoff system, but they would actually be able to WIN a championship. Where they currently are, there is no hope of them EVER winning a championship in football. Look at what happened to the U of U last year. They went undefeated, beat Alabama in their bowl game and still can't win the Championship. :o

and even worse...since its just a popularity contest we never found out who was the best team...probably could have been 10 diff teams last year...who knows?

And we'll never know...

Who was better in 2005? USC? Texas? Oh what about Boise and Auburn? Yes, they both went undefeated. As well that other Utah team in what 2004?

Pride, dropping down would prove that they cant compete at the FBS level, (even though they really cant) its kinda like Utah State, USU would drop football before dropping down. Keep thier dignity.

Sun Belt teams can raise enough money to cover the FBS scholarship maximums. Plus Troy beat Oklahoma State two seasons ago. I'd say we'd have a shot at Western Kentucky or North Texas, but Troy, ASU, or FAU would handle BSC schools by a couple of touchdowns.

Parity may exist among the best FCS teams and the bottom feeders of non-auto BCS conferences, but not between the top FCS conferences and bottom BCS conferences.

I love my Wildcats and respect the sustained successes of the Montana program, but there is no way that either team could consistently win the Sub Belt conference.
