Support Wulff

This will be the last chance to see a football game in this area so as a show of support for Wolff I'm going to drive down on Saturday. If anyone cares to ride along send me a PM.
I'll be leaving from the Spokane Valley.

Wish I could go but taking the family out of town. Loved the game last Saturday, best non-Husky win I've ever seen in Pullman. Utah is used to nasty weather but still give the Cougars the edge Saturday. It was very fun watching Coach Wulff outcoach the traveling man from Tempe. Where does Dennis go next?

Great to see the young man from Ferris do so well. Halliday was spectacular. Utah defense is better than ASU but if the WSU receivers go get the ball like they did this past weekend the Cougs will score some points. It isn't Eagle football but WSU football isn't too bad, getting better. Their special teams should improve, some Seniors will be playing on the kickoff coverage team. WSU led the nation in kickoff coverage last season so it isn't the scheme, just lack of depth and experience. Coug D came through even though ASU had great field position way too many times. Crucial game for Coach Wulff, hope it goes his way and he gets an extension. We all know Paul can recruit, look at the seniors on our team this season.

As much as I liked Wulff as a coach when he was here, I simply cannot bring myself to support any of the three stooges (WSU, Idaho, Gonzaga). Plus, I am still a little pissed at him over the comments he made after the whole NCAA fiasco. Way to burn your bridges dude.

I hope they give him an extension just so we can play him next year and take the Cougs down.

Wolff has 1 year left on his initial 5 year contract, so it wouldn't be an extention, just fulfilling his contract, which he may get to do after the ASU win with QB Halliday having 3 years left after this year, and the WR corp is young. However, there is now game film on Halliday, and I'm sure he won't have as easy of a time as last week from here on out, no Pac-12 QB ever does. As far as Wolff, could care less, keep him or let him go, I'm still indifferent. Honestly, I believe he's not head coach PAC-12 material.

Like him or not, he brought and created an awful lot of talent and winning to Cheney. I think he's perfect for Pullman and hope he succeeds.

I don't dislike the guy at all - and I'm definitely not being dismissive of what he accomplished here. He's a huge part of where the program is now. But I was highly disappointed in the comments that were made after the NCAA violations. I'm not putting all the blame on Coach W, and I recognize that it was a lack of institutional control.......but you don't come out and say "You have to understand, these things have been going on there for years." That's throwing your former employer under the bus to an extent, and IMO just wasn't that smart of a move. I didn't appreciate the WSU AD's comments about how those things would "never happen at WSU", either. What a condescending dick.

FWIW I think Paul Wullf can be a successful Pac-12 HC. It's just I don't know if he'll have enough time to prove it. He inherited a program that was probably by far the worst BCS program in the country, and it can't be easy to recruit top-tier Pac-12 athletes to Pullman. But I do feel like recruiting was his strong point and he was probably an above average Big Sky Coach. I feel like Baldwin is tactically a better coach, although the two are similar. I think what really seperates them is Coach W. could hardly ever win the "big" game, with the exception of the 2004 win at S. Illinois, the 2005 Montana game, and the 2007 McNeese game.

Agreed. I root for WSU, but Wulff will always be a sour taste after the way he went out at Eastern.

Not that I am his defender because I do not know if he needs one. He did the best he could with what he had to work with, which we all know is a little now and was much less when he was there.
Is it too bad all of the good things Paul did for Eastern are overshadowed by some perceptions of his departure.

C'mon now....this is the Eastern athletics page! Who cares about the Cougars?? They are still the ugly step child of the Pac-12. They picked up an upset win against Arizona State...who oh by the way isn't very good. I'll give them credit for improving from the 1-2 wins they get the past few years but seriously...c'mon. Wulff will not be successful as a Pac-12 coach, especially in Pullman. It will take a great coach to ever make WSU a championship, top 25 school in football again. I get so damn sick of hearing about WSU and Idaho!! THEY ARE HORRIBLE!!!!
