7721. PSU Bookstore involved in Image Supression?

You gotta wonder ... either the bookstore purchasing agents are dupes, incompetents or doing it on purpose. The selection is absolutely abysmal and when something good comes along, they close it out as soon as it is sold out.
I remember an "Old Viking" beer T-shirt that was a keeper and a white cap with green letters (surrounded in blue outlining) reading VIKINGS in the shape of a mountain and now its gone.
Why does just about every single apparel item in the PSU look like utter crap?! Looks like if the alums are going to get anything decent to wear, they're going to have to buy "PSU" stuff through Penn State. Portland State University needs to invest in the Sharper Image now and get rid of its current buyers.

I bought one of those "Old Viking Beer" T-shirts way back in 1988, I believe. Best thing to come down the pike in ages at the PSU Bookstore. I took it to Japan with me and it was soon stolen (along with a pair of Nike shoes) at an exercise gym locker I used. I believe it was stolen because the artwork was so excellent, animated and original.
There must be a huge pool of artistic talent in Portland that could come up with great originals like that. THAT is what the PSU Bookstore NEEDS to be purchasing: The best Portland artists' love affair with Portland State's image. Make PSU the coolest and most unmatched University in terms of apparel design this way. That is how the Bookstore can add value to the Community: Make green, silver and white gorgeous (and not ugly).
The stuff made for the PSU Bookstore by Nike, Under Armor and other producers, for the most part right now, really, really stinks and is horrible. Designed to suppress PSU's image, I wonder, and, yes, it seems plausible as a needless protection for the UO.
I would literally be mortified to wear just about any of their apparel products as they are designed to be so contemptibly ugly, ordinary and without any sense of hipness or taste. Most are just goofy---designed to be rejected (either by the purchaser or by those see it worn). They rather need to make them sharp, cool, even profound. Then (and only then) will vast numbers of potential purchasers be proud to sport their PSU apparel products.
As for now, I, for one, wouldn't be caught dead wearing any of them. I would sooner spit on such dastardly design work. They be oh so ugly.
