Two more games and a goal to maintain a winning record streak.

I agree with others, give Cooper the last two starts. Let’s see what he can do given a full chance. I know he can’t pass that well, but maybe a few screens or quick passes is all he needs with his running capability.

This is SUU’s Super Bowl. Weber State really doesn’t care about this rivalry game…and hey, I can’t blame them. After this game, I wouldn’t schedule them anymore. Why waste a non-conference game on them or Dixie State (Utah Tech). Weber State will always need a money FBS game and will want to play a MVFC or CAA team for another. I’d play another Big Sky team instead and that would round out the non-conference schedule.

With this meaning everything to SUU on Senior Game, I give them a 60/40 edge…especially with the phone a friend offense (hell, I wish it were phone a friend) we have in place. T-birds played Portland State better and played really tough in Missoula. The bright spot is this game is on the road where the Wildcats play their best football.

I’ll predict 24-20 SUU.

I see Weber completely giving up at this point. Jay’s play for pride speech sounds nice but it probably won’t mean much to the players since they know the problem and what lead to this disappointment of a season. Nothing to play for and bottom line coaching isn’t good enough to help them at this point. With Hammer running the offense (if you can call it that), the injuries, and the defense being softer than last year I see this being an SUU game all the way.

My opinion is that until we get a new OC, O-line coach, and possibly an upgrade at QB were in trouble. First business should be to send Hammer as far away from Weber St. as possible. Two horribly failed stints as an OC should do it. Let him go back to HS level where he belongs. Fire Myers as well because the O-line looks worse then the last 15 years I can remember. Offensive line should be told to put down the forks & spoons and bust cardio for the next 6 months to get their dumpy, slow asses in shape!!! If I was Hill I’d scour the transfer portal looking for a QB and pray we don’t lose our QB commit from Idaho and then I’d meet with all my underclassmen on offense like Grimes, Bankston, etc.. and try to reassure them I’ll find someone half way competent to run the offense and give them some success. Next, I’d demote the DC’s back to assistants and take back over the play calling for the defense if I’m Hill, and lastly try to find a FG kicker I feel safe enough with to at least try 40 yd + attempts without just going for it all the time.

This game should be all about playing young players and trying out Cooper at QB. Rest the seniors for senior day where they better get the send off they deserve. Shaheed, Mortensen, Lavaka, Schiess, and a few others deserve to be celebrated for their years of helping build the program and I’d even let them call the offense since they probably have a much higher acumen for it then the guy in box upstairs watching YouTube “how to” videos for OC’s!!

Prediction…. SUU 27 Weber 17

I hope all the corrections you mention do actually happen. Your post brought a big smile to my face…funny and true. I do think there will be a mass exodus via the transfer portal if some coaches and coordinators are left in place. I unfortunately think Hill is kind of like Flanders when it comes to firing people…too nice to do it.

I guess time will tell. I think Hill needs to open up the position and hire outside his circle of friends. Maybe he can take some proven coordinator or an assistant. If Hill doesn’t, it may just be another name with same crappy results.

Honestly, I don't see how anybody, remotely connected to WSU football, could stomach a loss to the Thunder Chickens. Dogs would start loving cats, fish would fall from the sky, night would become day, and the world, as we know it, would cease to exist.

I just can't see any of that happening. :tothehand:

Might be the last time the 2 schools play each other for some time. Gotta see them out of the Sky with a little "love." Beating SUU in our last conference game is enough for me and should be for our players. Finish strong. Play for something to build on.

Wow, SUU announcers are hot garbage. I don't think they've had a name for Weber correct on their first try yet.

Wow! Wildcats forced turnovers and offense converted. This is quite a way to send SUU to the WAC (can understand now why they are stepping down to a lower level)! Quite a beat down. Wished this version of Wildcats would have shown up to Stewart Stadium this year. Great job Wildcats!

I heard that the WAC is thinking about dropping to D11, strictly a budgetary thing.

I thought Weber would win, but 45-0 at half is something else. Demario Warren might be coaching his last game as the HC in Cedar.

That last kick from Thompson was perfect. I feel bad that there was such a short leash on him this year. Personally, I would have let him kick more than trying to go for it on 4th. Oh well, nice to see him doing well now.

Let a lot of backups play in the 2nd half and start building for next year.

That would be interesting. I’m sure SUU was under the impression the WAC would remain FCS in football. They may have played themselves into D11 or the best they could do is FCS independent…honestly, if was the Wildcats AD, I wouldn’t bother playing SUU or UTU…too few non-conference games to waste.

Well...., There was sure a lot of fight in those Thunder Chicks.... Oh wait, that was just their cheer squad.

I guess everyone was playing for pride only. Only SUCC just doesn't have much.

The South loses again.

I heard that SUCC is calling in the team from Arizona to do a ninja recount. Something about the mail in plays.

There is no W in SUCC.

I can't think of any more right now. I could add to it later.

I had time to kill today. I watched the game again to try to get more of what whent right and wrong and better looks at all the second and third stringers who played most of the second half. It was really a good chance to get a look at some of the guys who will be major contributors next year. We have some truly good talent waiting in the wings. A few more pieces added through recruiting and we should be right back where we all want.

The thing that kept popping up in my face was the poor media production coming out of Cedar City. In a way, I feel a little sorry for the hot mess down there. I hope they are able to hold on to D1 status. It's going to be hard for them to do it. I think Dixie has a much higher lielyhood of success in that regard. :coffee:

Wasn't really able to watch much of the game, though definitely happy with the result. From what I did see, it seemed as if SUU was done. The players probably knew their coach was getting the ax, no matter the result, and just didn't show up. SUU was a pick six, and blocked field goal, away from beating Montana in Missoula.

I don't necessarily agree with Tal. Yes, Weber won't be playing SUU next year, but I'm sure the two schools are trying to get something set up as soon as possible. It is a good rivalry and SUU will want to get a W against Weber as soon as possible to wash away this recent 62-0 beatdown. We have three open weeks in 2023 (when is our next 12 game schedule, I miss those), two in September, after an opening road game against Utah, and another open date Oct 28. None of SUU's upcoming schedules are currently available. So , who knows if they have available dates or not. Probably waiting on the WAC to get schedules up. Gotta knew who will even be playing next year.

So much weirdness happening in the WAC right now. I'm wondering if the WAC even gets to playing football?

This game left me shaking my head and saying if only. If only our line could have blocked better against PSU and MSU. If only the Sky would have had competent refs when we played Davis (that crew in the PSU game was pretty crap awful too). If only our coaches would have trusted our kicker a little more and gone for field goals instead of going for it on 4th down multiple times this season. If only Weisser starts against JMU. Heaven's we can go on and on and on. It is easy for us. We get the luxury of being Monday morning QBs.

IMHO, Barron is still our best QB, if he can stay away from injuries. Also true of our RBs. Our best RB played about 10% of the season.

In looking over what we have returning at OL, I think we can make huge strides with the proper conditioning and coaching. Our depth was very young along the OL this past year. One or two good OL players is not enough. You need to have eight or nine guys who can play and won't hurt you. We didn't have that this year. Defensively, we are in a good place with only a few holes to fill in.

So far, the rcruiting seems to be rolling along nicely.

As usual, next year's schedule looks brutal, but it always will be. We just have to rise up and get it going. No other choice in the matter. :coffee:

Beating a piss poor SUU team 62-0 does NOTHING to dispel how awful this team is from where they were a couple years ago. I’ll admit I thought they’d mail it in so great job young men of showing out and decimating the Thunder-Turds!

We are about 4-5 starting OL-men away from being good up front!! The O line is terrible at best and when we’ve played anyone with a pulse that’s been proven. Barron is easily shaken by good defensive fronts. He overthrows or under throws almost every deep ball. The RB’s are solid and we should be good there. If I hear ANYONE support bringing back Hammer at OC that person clearly has had a lobotomy or is related to the guy. Here’s hoping Matt gets the job at SUU where he played so he can continue on the tradition of losing football there!!!

Defensively we have had ZERO pass rush and the secondary is poor. Hopefully Tarlas and Mitton get better in the off-season and the pressure can be consistent again. The secondary is crying out for a better coach then Dyson. He was terrible at Clearfield so why the Hell coach Hill hired him is a mystery at best. LB’s seem to be a strength and I do believe we have talent in the secondary but my comments above are why I’m skeptical.

I’m resigned to the fact Weber isn’t a destination location for many good coaches so maybe Hill has to pick from the local never was crowd of coaches but that’s too bad. At this point I’d be all in for trying to snag coach Kjar from CC just to give someone new a shot (it couldn’t hurt). Our team, the school, and the community deserve a winner and I’m hoping somehow coach Hill can find some better assistants this off-season. It all starts with coach Hill making the tough but right decisions to replace a few of the assistants with the program currently.

I'm certainly not saying that our OC has done the job we all wanted him to do and I'm not saying that he won't be replaced. All that I am saying is that coach Hill knows more than any of us what his coaches do or don't do. Last I checked, football is a team effort and that effort includes everyone remotely connected. To say that it falls on one or two individuals is a bit misleading. Ultimately, it is on the head guy, however you want to define the head guy.
