This will be a big test. Hopefully the last few games have built up some confidence. Wildcats may need to push the pace for more success.

I agree. Beside the roadie to Montana, this trip will be the most difficult we will face.

I've watched all three teams play a game or two. SUU has been all over the place. They lost early to Dixie and lost to UNCo. They seem to play very well at home. The new big men they recruited got worked at Dixie, but have improved their over all play.

Likewise, UNCo has played well, with the exception of a stinker against Sac.

Sac is a bit like ISU. They play hard, but have had too many mental lapses.

Like the Montana trip 1 win would be good, 2 wins would be great, and three wins would be sensational.

I predict that the first place team will have 4 losses at the end of the season. :coffee:

One good thing about playing SUU on Monday is that we get to watch ISU play them on Saturday. We will have all weekend to prepare. :thumb:

Well, ISU hung with SUU for 30 minutes, but faded midway through the second half. That seems to be the ISU MO lately. SUU looked good, but they are certainly beatable.

EWU put a scare into UNCo, but also faded in the last 2 minutes. UI picked up their first conf. win over Sac, and Montana picked up a road win at NAU.

Just going through the rosters, comparing who we have vs who they have. I think that we match up quite well with this SUU team. There are no real size or depth advantages for either team. This game is going to come down to defense and rebounding. If one team gets hot from the outside, it could swing the game. Anything can, and usually does, happen in Cedar. :coffee:

I just looked at SUU's box score from last Saturday when they played the potatoes. SUU won by 12. We just beat the taters by 32. Probably doesn't mean much, but makes me feel good knowing we beat the taters worse than SUU did. SUU has a shorter rotation than we do . They only really play 7 guys. Weber has been playing 8. Having Bassett back has really been great for Weber. Sir Velo and I think he is the key for Weber. If we can get him to play good defense and help on the boards and get 7-10 ppg, then Weber wins Big Sky running away. SUU is really good, but I do like how we match up. Fausett worries me a little. He is damn good on the boards and that is where we struggle. That is why Bassett being in the line up helps us so much more. Jones will probably be matched up with Fausett and Bassett will be matching up against their big guy Spurgin. Bassett should be able to handle Spurgin and I like Jones on Fausett. Jones for SUU is probably their best player and I have to think Overton will be guarding him. We need a big game from JJ especially on D guarding Jones. I hope we can get contribution from our bench. Tew, Porter and Koelher are a pretty solid 3 off the bench. Being at SUU will be tough, but I do think Weber has more horses and more talent. SUU is actually favored by 2 points. Weber wins 77 72

I agree, Bassett (or Bass Et as the ESPN + announcer said) is the missing piece of the puzzle. I don’t think we lose all 4 games in December with a healthy Basset Hound.
What has happened to Kozak and Carlson this year? Tew really hussles and plays hard (seems to force things at times), lacks experience but will improve!

2 point spread tells me the teams are about even, with a slight edge for Weber (home court gives you 4 points on the spread). Don’t think the Cedar version of the Spectrum is a big advantage.

Weber wins down the stretch by about 4.

Carlson simply has not been able to bring his game up to the level he was playing last year, for whatever reason. He can still contribute, but is not in the main rotation. Kozak had ankle surgery over the summer and still is working on his range of motion. He can play a limited role. The order of big men seems to be:
1) Basset
2) Tew
3) Carlson
4) Kozak
5) Nzekwesi
6) Kupsas

We, at least, have a lot of fouls to give.

Very solid performance on the road! Big win that could bring a lot of momentum into the game at Northern Colorado. Good to see SUU close out their last home Big Sky matchup vs Weber State with a loss…add the football stomp down the SUU fans witnessed last year, and I’m sure they are ready to retreat to the WAC.

Well, it was certainly interesting. We win 92-84, but it should never have been that close. The crazy stuff that happens in Cedar City was on full display. It's to be expected. Anywhere else on planet Earth, with any three other refs, and we win by over 25. Somebody bet the spread.

At any rate, I'm so, so glad that SUU is leaving the BSC. Bush town with a bush school, and bush teams. I hope we never, ever play in that crap hole again. It won't be long before the WAC is tired of it as well, and the WAC has a lot of bushy type places. I would 20x rather play in St George or even Mosco, Imaho. :coffee:

Such a sweet and satisfying win over the birds. Impressive crowd for a Monday game. Their student section looked virtually full. I don't know what they are doing to get students interested, but maybe our marketing gurus should take notes. Personally, I'd like to see our band at our games too. As for playing in the future, I highly doubt we see the birds on our schedule as long as Simon is their coach. To me it seems silly not to play them and the school formerly known as Dixie each season, but...5 DI games if the Y and USU keep playing us and we play the Utah WAC contingent.

So awesome to see suu lose its last home game to weber before leaving for the wac.
Indeed. I'll be happy if everyone kicks their butts from here on out. It won't happen because they do have a couple of good players, but I can hope.

I always gas up before or after Cedar Crap City and I wear dark glasses and try not to look left or right while passing. It's the only way I can keep from puking. You don't want to start spewing at 70MPH on I-15.
