Tailgating ????

Having resided for the last 16 years in Washington (what my father used to refer to as "The Gestapo State"), what is allowed in terms of tailgating at EWU? I didn't make the last UM game in Cheney but the time before I was told no cans/bottles/charcoal bbq's and a bunch of other restrictions only to visit the upper tailgate lot an see all of the above and then some. Obviously for those of you who have attended games in Missoula, you are aware that everything is pretty much fair game if you are of legal age and not acting like a drunken ass.

How much do they enforce the no open flame bbq rule? In the upper lot I.saw plenty of guys cooking with "open flames" from charcoal. Even sampled some ribs from an offset smoker that certainly wasn't using propane.

It's essentially grill at your own risk. As long as you aren't making an ass out of yourself, then you probably have nothing to worry about. The cops may decide to be dicks and douse your flames, but they may not. Your call. It's not a bad idea to have a propane backup in any case.

FWIW, cops are asked to be reserved and be around mostly for presence. Unless you are pretty out of line, you shouldn't even notice them. They won't bother you unless you are creating a problem or disturbance.

This, for sure. Don't act like a 18 year old frat rat who just drank his first 5 beers, and you'll be in good shape.

I think the open flames thing is mainly for camp fires (still stinks) and not cooking.

I have instructed the authorities to not allow you in the upper parking lot without bringing me a chunk of tri-tip.

We won't be in the upper lot, I'm told it's sold out so we plan to set up by the Red Barn in the A.M.and yes the tri-tip is on the menu. Just finished trimming up and seasoning up about 20# worth, should fill the grill nicely.
