Taiwan injury

"Fractures of the base of the foot's fifth metatarsal bone are common fractures seen both in recreational and competitive athletes. This type of fracture is generally referred to as a “Jones Fracture,” named after Sir Robert Jones, who first described this fracture pattern in 1902."
How ironic! Guess we'll see what the rest of the team, from starters to backup to coaching staff, are made of.

Go Eags!

I wonder if this might be a blessing in disguise. The team saw TJ fly around early on Saturday and thought they had it won early. Granted, had Kauffman caught the TD, we would have put the screws to NDSU. However, now that they know he's out, might that change their outlook to a more team-oriented goal?

We'd rather see TJ, but since he's out for sure, who knows what might happen?

Rushing No Gain Loss Net TD Lg Avg
-------------------------------------------------
Darriell Beaumonte 26 81 3 78 1 7 3.0
Mario Brown 13 37 1 36 0 8 2.8
Bo Levi Mitchell 1 14 0 14 0 14 14.0
Totals... 40 132 4 128 1 14 3.2

See above, we scored 35 points on the road without the best offensive player in the nation and we did okay running the ball. Maybe my claim about Taiwan will get the Villanova fans going as they have a guy they think is pretty good on offense. We respect the defending national champs but we are at home again and we don't have finals to worry about. It will be a great game and we are less than five days away.

You're right, I think we'll be okay without TJ, obviously I'd much rather have him, but our backup RB's have played well too.

What worries me is that Nova's defense is not Weber's defense. Nova is ranked in the top 30 in total D, and Weber was ranked something like 108. Nova is ranked seventh in points allowed. The game after Weber, NAU did a pretty nice job of shutting down our running game. That being said, we still were able to win. 8-)

I know Villanova is the defending NC and they just came off of a big win against App St, but I think we have a good shot on Friday. We are a completely different team now without TJ then we were earlier this year, and I think our offense will score points. Our D has showed so much heart this year and I think they will rise to the challenge again.

The short week, and the long road trip coming off a big win are huge in our favor. My biggest concern is stopping the wildcat that they run and the weather. We haven't faced an offense like they run it and the snow could effect our passing game significantly.

All in all I predict a 20-17 victory for the Eagles.

I like your thinking ML. If the defense keeps Nova in front of them, our offense is still good enough to win.

I'd hardly call losing the best player in the Division to a broken foot a blessing in disguise. But I do know what you're saying. ;)

The defense is pretty damn solid, as they have been all year long. They can play with anyone in the Division, IMO.

As far as the offense goes, they stepped up BIG TIME in the Weber game. They can do it again. Our coaches know what they are doing and will draw up a good game plan. We all know BLM can be hot and cold, but he can be very effective when he's on - let's just hope he's on.

Anyone who thinks we don't have any shot in this game is kidding themselves.

The bone break is repaired with pins, from what I understand. There shouldn't be much swelling to hold him back, and re-separating the break is painful but not career-ending. The question will be the tenderness, because human nature dictates that if it is extremely tender he won't be able to plant his weight on it.

I'd bet he'll see limited action, but will play, on Jan 7.

my guess is he'll dress, just so UD has to prepare for him playing or not playing, but I doubt he'll see more than a few snaps, if any action at all.
