Talking,chat

Well, for me, I wait around during the summer thinking I'm going to see some improvement. I point to the Nevada game to give me a barometer to see any improvement over last year. Not thinking we are going to get a win but I wanted to see us be competitive with what should be a lower tier Mountain West team. What I saw was Nevada run right by our defenders pretty much willy-nilly. We looked like we were stuck in molasses the whole game. Then, watching some other Big Sky games, it became evident to me that Nevada is not that much faster than some of our conference foes. If Nevada can run right by us and make us look slow, things are not going to get much better (and I'm not talking about Oregon this week).

The offense was equally as slow. Alexander slow at making decisions, Eason slow at making handoffs, the line was slow coming off the ball. The whole team was slow.

What is scary is the Ducks could hang 100 on us this weekend if they want to. I doubt they will, but they could.

I'm with @bigskyconf, in not seeing what I hoped might be some positives. My big 3 concerns are still there; DB's, Oline and playcalling. I'm definitely not too concerned with the Oregon game. I'll be there flying PSU colors but it could get ugly.

We have to get used to the speed of the first two games and hopefully play up to that when our "real" season starts week 3. After CofI we will know if we learned anything from the first 2 games...

I was waiting for this game all summer that I sat through the whole live stream with the Nevada announcers, thinking I was going to see "improvement". I guess a blocked PAT, a blocked FG and a safety should be considered "improvement" but still getting beat 72-19 is sort of like same song, different verse. How we ended last year, with North Dakota scoring the most points in their season against us, and Cal Poly scored their most points in their conference season against us, Nevada tied their stadium record for most points in a game in this game.

I agree with you both. My biggest thing was second have adjustments, The DC didn't change a thing. Fast means nothing if your out of position. I think that we need shorter passes.

I'm not going to let myself fall back into the "pit" of despair from last season. However, @teamholt, based on what I have seen over the last 3 years, we are by far the worst second half team I have ever seen.

I do know direct from some of the players the last few years that we do very little to communicate adjustments during halftime and we hardly do anything to try and fire our guys up. For the most part it sounds like players sit around. Don't get it... :ohno:
