Teams 2-7?

Any predictions on who else will be in the tourney and in what order?
How about
2. ND 13-7
3. NAU 12-8
4-7 Montana, Sac St, Northern Colorado, Eastern Wash 11-9

So that means, PSU, MSU, and ISU will be on the outside looking in.

No idea how the tie breakers would separate 4-7 in this scenario.

Our best matchups are: Montana State, North Dakota, Portland State & Sac State

Our worst matchups are: Montana, Northern Colorado, Northern Arizona & Eastern

Not sure that Idaho State is a bad match up, but they sure know how to zone us.

I want to see 2 teams that beat us last Montana, & NAU. We beat Sac, & NoCo last meetings, & ISU probably won't make it.

Id love to see NAU again, not a chance they can bottle lightning twice in one season against wsu, especially here in ogden... UM... I will take that matchup in ogden any day of the week...

North Dakota and Montana scare me. The Grizz' always seem to have the proverbial key to Weber State's roller skates, and North Dakota is one of those streaky, reckless, "too stupid to fail" teams that can get hot, especially in tournaments. I'd love to see NAU again. Northern Colorado is fading down the stretch, so I think they'll be a good matchup for Weber.

The only way I see UND winning this thing is if you guys get upset before we have to play you guys. I believe that you guys are the only team that outmatches our talent and obviously you guys, along with most of the other schools have the advantage in the coaching department in my opinion.

Poor Brian Jones. Even his own fans see that he isn't very good. At least he is not costing the tax payers very much. I really hope we meet in the finals. I think we match up very well against the team without a nickname.

It is true and frustrating because you cannot justify firing after finishing in 2nd or 3rd or whatever they are going to finish in the conference. But we, the fans, know that next season is going to be a rough one to watch more than likely. The only way he gets fired in the coming years is if he has a situation like our volleyball coach. Maybe some stupid bigger school will call him and offer him a HC position though!

I don't know, I don't think your coach is that bad. He seems to be a good recruiter. He reigned Huff in a little bit when things were going south, and got the team going in the right direction again. I do think he could spend more time worrying about his players and less about the refs. Although, that is true of a lot of our BSC coaches, and it also may be a reflection on just how bad our officiating is. All in all, I don't see anything that he has done to get himself fired. :coffee:

Oh he seems to be a good recruiter but that does not make you a good coach.

You also must think about the options you would have in replacing him. Good coaches don't grow on trees. If they did, everyone wold have one.

After Niel McCarthy left, we went through a few lean years and poor coaches before we landed Ron A.

There are no guarantees.

As of right now, with the Griz win tonight, UM and ND are tied for second place. Griz could lose one or
both road games remaining and get a 3 seed. ND is in better position (home game with
fading UNC and at SUU) for number 2 seed but could have company with the crazy
games remaining. If the Griz win out, watch out, even though they did not have much
spirit tonight in Missoula against MSU. Maybe because they knew they were not hosting
the tourney. Everybody worries about Jamar but Weisner scares me the most on their
team because he is the coolest 3pt shooter in the conference (best under pressure).
In 35 years of watching BSC BBall this is amazing to watch -regardless of the quality of
the teams.

Crazy that 7 teams are fighting, in the last week of the season, for spots in the Big Sky Tourny.

Tonight UNCO and UND tangle. Whoever wins, in all likelihood, will end up being the 2nd seed. (I'm putting money on UM losing twice this week).

I was really hoping MSU would pull off the upset last night and possibly set Montana up to not make the tourney.

Who do you guys want to see in the semis? Or who would you not like to see in the semis....??
I think we are capable of beating all of them on our own floor. However ... I'm now conditioned to believe we CAN'T beat Montana in tourney situations, even at home. Until a Randy Rahe team gets over that complex, I would prefer we don't see the Grizzlies anywhere in the tourney.

I completely get what your are saying and have basically had the same feelings, however, it is time to get this damn gorilla of "our" backs! I think I'd prefer to face UM in the semi's (because I don't want them even having a sniff of the championship game) and then MSU in the championship game. Kick the whole State of Montana back home and earn 4+ years of redemption. Double-digit wins in both would put a nice stamp on it.

:+1: :+1: Agreed. Although I'd prefer we knock out both Montana and Northern Colorado, as it would be an exclamation point on "This is our conference, and we are taking it back from you two."

Olds, Did you watch the UND game tonight? They came out like gang busters. Huff was lighting it up with the penetration. They scored 56 in the first half. UNC made some adjustments at the half on the high pick/Huff penetration. Jones just kept going to the well like no adjustments were made. They almost lost the game in the second half. I am sorry the guy is not a good coach. On the post game he looked like he had been out partying at the local frat house. He hadn't shaved for a few days and his suit was a mess. He was a mess. Sorry, I still think he is the worst coach in the Big Sky.

02;

You may be right about Jones. He does seem to be a good recruiter, but a mediocre technician. It is really hard to find a coach who is both. Joe Cravens was a lot like him. The two most complete coaches in the league are Rahe and Tinkle. To me there are three aspects of a good coach. None of the three are more important than the others. If a coach has one of them, they are OK but seldom has teams over .500. If a coach has two of the three he is good and will compete for championships on a fairly regular basis. If a coach has all three his teams are consistent champions and larger programs will be going after him. Those three things are recruiting prowess, ability to teach technical ability, and the ability to manage the emotional states of highly strung and motivated athletes.

Notice that I didn't say that they motivate players or that they are great with Xs and Os. It's not the Xs and Os, it's the Jimmies and Joes.

If you were to award scores of 0 to 1 point for each of the three, Rahe and Tinkle would get scores around 2.5 from me. Jones would get a 1.75. In my opinion, there are coaches in our league who would score lower than Jones. :twocents:
