Texas A&M Aggies

Howdy. Texas A&M Aggie fan posting on your board. Thought I'd give a short summary of our Women's team. They are known for an aggressive defense, coached by assistant coach Vic Schaefer, which results in our opponents going to the FT line more often, but also alot of turnovers and points in transition. We play in too much of a hurry at times with silly turnovers, but the pace is tough to keep up with and we have the depth to keep it going. The two Sydneys, Carter and Colson, are quick and can get into the lane, and can also shoot from outside. Colson is not 100% (IMO) from previous leg problems, is quick with her hands, and sometimes prefers flash to fundamentals. Tyra White and Tanisha Smith are long and athletic and tough to guard, White can hit the 3 and Smith can drive to the basket or pull up and hit jumpers. Either could go for 20 on any given night. Dametria Buchanan starts down low, pretty good defense, not too much offense. But for the first time in years, we have someone who can bang down low, Danielle Adams. She is a load, has good hands and can go out and hit the 3. Coach Blair likes the chemistry of bringing her off the bench, she was pretty fresh against Oklahoma and wore them out in the 2nd half. Adora Elonu is another tall, athletic girl who has been scoring well of late. Kelsey Assarian is a fan favorite because of her tough play inside. Coach Blair is a charmer, expect him to say all kinds of great things about Seattle and Portland State. All in all I think it's going to be a hard matchup for you, but good luck.

Howdy, Hsvag, and welcome to our board. Thanks for the TAM run-down. We know about your hustling defense. You look to be mighty good at it. It may - or may not - put a dent in our 3 shooters. Your height is a little more worrisome. Not much we can do about that. Earlier in the season we had a couple hustling defense teams, and it seemed to fluster us. Later on in the season we seemed to adjust. We'll just have to see. You can be sure we won't take your team lightly. :-) I'd be surprised to see you push us into many turnovers - our free throw shooting is fine. But you've got a heck of a lot of experience in the NCAAs and we've got none. You could blow us out - we're definitely the underdogs. We'll see how you handle Faucher. And Jones. And Marchant. And Valentine. And Yankus/Wade/DePaepe. My guess? A surprisingly tight game.

They all have their moments. Faucher is the ultimate point guard. A senior, she can't be flustered. Very high on assists (she led the conference). Passes well. Games we've won and she's scored only 6 points. You'll put your fastest runner on her if you go man on man (woman on woman?). Marchant and Valetine are the forwards; both shoot well. Eryn Jones usually plays 2guard. She shoots well too. Yankus/Wade/DePaepe, the tall ones, mostly block and rebound. I have no idea whether we'll play man to man or zone. Depends on you. We'll switch. We've been fairly strong on defense - so have you. You're reputed to play up-tempo. We can do that too - but we've also been slow and methodical at times. Very similar teams, both coached well. In the Big 12 you can recruit better than we can in the Big Sky - you go national, we're limited to the Northwest. Edge to you. You have a LOT more money for athletics than we do - edge to you. Still, I don't confuse you with UConn. :-) It should be a tight game.

Heading the wrong direction this weekend (Tri-cities), but my heart will be with the lady Viks on Saturday. Go Viks!!!!

I am looking forward to a good game against your Aggies. I think we can certainly challenge you...but we will see how it goes!

wow awesome scouting from Aggie fan!
We are thrilled to be going to the tournament and hopefully will give your team a good game. Going to the line will be nice! hope we can get ourselves there, we can run or do half court, mix it up, keep us all entertained. Here's hoping for a competitive game, safe travels, bring a rain coat!

Looks like the Aggies almost confused PSU with Colorado, Lamar, Prairie View, North Texas....... Yep, nice tight game.

wow, we looked tremendous in the first half and then Texas took over....we have no inside answer for someone like #23 she's a monster, gets position every time and shoots from the outside as welll. There are lot's of things t'o be critical of from the armchair perspective, but you've got to believe the girls played their hearts out against a very very good team...it will be fun to see how Gonzaga fares against them in the next round. I was very proud of the girls and coaches tonight. Next year we will just have to go with a better seed! Congratulations girls on making PSU history. And Thank you to Claire and Erin Y for making us a great team. Best wishes in all you do as you move on from PSU....
