Texas Tech trying to move EWU game (AGAIN)

Good for Chaves!
I think it just was a typo by someone. Everywhere else I have looked it says the 2nd of September.

Nope, apparently they're trying to get it televised. I guess it was a mistakenly released press release it seems.

I don't understand why Texas Tech doesn't just buy out the contract on this game. It seems like they have a TV slot all lined up, and I doubt the buyout is much north of $300k. Given our schedule next year, it might even be a win-win for us to bring in another home game. They were talking about buying us out a few months ago and now appear to be pulling some shenanigans. Could be a blessing in disguise. Lord knows we don't have enough money to bail on the game, but getting paid out and putting the money into a home game seems like an awfully attractive turn of events.

I would like to see us take the money...find an easy D1 home game replacement. Wishful thinking.

Not sure what the buyout clause looks like for a game like this. But I agree, if it's attractive enough to gain us an additional home game while putting the remainder back into the athletic department, then it's probably a win-win for us.

That said, it's hard to put a price tag on the intangibles associated with a game like this (Being televised on the BXII network, etc).

I have not read a reliable source that the buyout is an option. Where are you seeing it?
