After watching Tinkle and Geving coach, I sure feel lucky as hell to have the coach we have. With the talent that Montana and Portland St have, they should be much better. And only with the coaching of an excellent coach does a team that shoots 33% and gets a total of 11 points from three of his starters beat a quality opponent by nine. I bet Portland St sure misses Bone. The way coach used Mahoney, Morris, and Washington last night was masterful. Washington came in at the exact time he was needed and gave us exactly what was needed. Will someone please pony up some cash to keep coach around for like another 10+ years?

I agree, it's approaching a game situation with a different approach that helps win championships. Evaluate who is on the floor and how they can help.
I thought Mahoney had one of the best games in a while, very good defensively. The rebounding and defense made the day.
Go "Cats. kick the Griz back to hibernate for the winter, and let's go dancin'.

Are you guys still thankful for Coach Rahe? Two years in a row now. I think last night might have killed whatever public support he was building in Ogden. It's acts like last night's that the death penalty was created for.

The last person I want to hear from about anything associated with last night's game or the Weber program is some professed fan who didn't even bother to watch the game that he seems to know so much about. You have absolutely nothing of worth to contribute to this subject.

I am still glad to have Coach Rahe. Without coach Rahe, Weber would be a mediocre team in the Big Sky. Is he perfect? No. Is he much better than most coaches? Yes.
Sometimes getting a big lead over a quality opponent can be problematic in that you play too tense, play not to lose. He had a great game plan that gave them a 20 point lead and in the second half, the players froze and stopped executing. They needed to take better shots and hit some free throws. Coaches are important, but players are the ones actually on the floor.
I still support Rahe!

Jimmy, in the whole of things, this is a disappointing loss, but no reason to fire Coach Rahe. I agree with Waldo: getting a large lead at half time changed the dynamic of the game, and the players did not execute in the same way as the first half. Also, Montana was blessed with a player who got very hot from the floor. I mean, when one guy scores your last 21 points, he's on a SOLO mission. In the tourney, that isn't going to help them to advance.
I will stick with Coach Rahe. A coach doesn't get fired for results of a game or two.

Think of your work, does someone get fired every time they make an error? If so, I wouldn't want to work there

Are you kidding me? What a dumb A$$ comment!! Would you like to bring Denny Houston back? or perhaps Larry Farmer? We are DAMN lucky to have Coach Rahe here, yes there were alot of things last night I didn't agree with but 1 game does not make a career.
JimmyD, either you are a Wildcat 4 life or you aren't a Wildcat at all. It reminds me of when people around Ogden wanted to get rid of Neil McCarthy because his teams played boring ball, that turned out to be a REALLY SMART MOVE!
Be thankful for what we have!

Some professed fan? I still have videotapes of the 1995 Michigan State game and 1999 North Carolina game at my parents' house in Ogden. Look at the name I use, which pays homage to one of Weber's all-time greats who dominated the Big Sky when I was growing up. I'm not a casual fan. I couldn't watch the game. I don't have cable because I'm a poor college student, and the guys at the gym were watching Nebraska upset defending Big 12 champ Missouri on TV. I went to the gym at that time for the sole purpose of catching Weber on ESPN 2. I assure you, I'm a Weber fan. It's the guys who criticize the team and wear paper bags on their heads in shame who care the most.

yes, he's a legit fan that didnt even watch wsu play on espn. that is really sad if there is only 1 tv in the whole state of nebraska.

YES... I DID WEAR A PAPER BAG ON MY HEAD ONCE...But that was at the end of two ROTTEN seasons.

I got a papercut on my ear for it too.

Oh, I know JimmyDfor3..He is a great fan, but a little angry right now. But rippin on Rahe...come on duder, there's a better way. Hosting the Conference tourny two years in a row is a pretty sweet deal. Unfortunately, Weber wasn't able to capitalize on these opportunities. However, what it does do is motivate the players to be that much better so it doesn't happen again.

Also, please...please...please...dont cut the nets down till after the Tourny!!! I'm really supersticious (sp?) and also, I see it as an indication of finality. If you cut the nets it means you are done "Mission Accomplished" (we are still in Iraq). A team shouldn't cut the nets till EVERYTHING is finished. It gives your players something else to fight, work, and play for.
