This is my favorite time of the year. After the way last year went, we are in dire need of a renewal. In sports, hope springs eternal. No matter how badly things may have gone, there is always a next time. Now is our next time.

I have watched these guys a couple of times. Not enough to predict anything. All I can really say is that our coaches have more to work with than they have in the last few years. We have a better mix of experience and youth and have added some talent in key areas. I feel that we are better than last year, but that isn't saying a lot. We were not good last year at all. To me it still comes down to our ability to defend and rebound. I'm hopeful, but that is all.

It is clear that all of the guys have come back with bigger muscles. Does it mean they will be better defenders or just look better in their uniforms? It looks like we may be deeper and have more options. However, does that really matter if we are only going to play 7 or 8 guys? We have brought in some long bodied freshmen, but are they ready for D1 basketball? How will the new guys adjust to our coaches? How will our coaches adjust to our new talent?

Some of these questions wont be answered until midseason. Right now, I'm just hopeful. :coffee:

With 5 to go in the 3rd, the conversation suddenly shifted to basketball. There isn't a lot of excitement because of last year, but it sure got our attention after that absolute ass kicking by the birds on Friday. Nonetheless, I really feel that Rahe makes amends this season, and really gets the most out of this team. There is a lot of potential.
