The Blizzard

Bogdan Bliznyuk is downright ridiculous on the court. I heard coach Haford say that he doesn't know he's a freshman and its true. I knew he was coming to EWU as one of the highest rated recruits we've ever had but I didn't know he was going to play like this as a true freshman. He gives us some much needed depth. He's had over 13 points in 6 out of our last 7 games and over 20 points in our last two games. Tonight was no exception. He scored 21and also had 15 huge rebounds. There was a Blizzard in Cheney tonight and it happened indoors.

I love the nickname for Bog... "the Blizzard"

I'll definitely be using that when referring to him going forward!

Cheers,
Brian

I didn't know the Blizzard had ups like that. That dunk was sick tonight. I'm pretty sure it was over a Sac St. dude but I was at the other end of the court so I will have to watch the replay again. Either way, sick dunk!!! Love Blizzy!

I HAD NO IDEA DUDE COULD GET UP, LET ALONE OVER ANOTHER PLAYER!! DAAAAAAAANNNGG. :notworthy: Had the house on their feet after that one.

Thank you for that Youtube link. I knew he posterized a guy. My seat was at the other end of the court but I could tell he went over a guy. That is a sweet video clip. Highly recommend watching it if you haven't seen it yet.

I was really bummed that Bogdan didn't start over Moon today with Venky out. Blizzard only took two shots all day and that doesn't seem right to me. We were winning all our games when he was one of our go-to-guys. I think Moon is a good player that does some nice things I but have to question why coach went to Moon over Bogdan. I think if Bliz takes his normal 8 to 15 shots we easily win this game. Why didn't we feed him? Just my 2 cents.

I've asked this question before so I suppose I'll ask it again: why doesn't Blizzard play more minutes? All he did in 14 minutes tonight was score seven points on 3 of 5 shooting. I know he picked up two early fouls but he still needs to play more than 14 minutes in my opinion. If he plays 28 minutes instead of 14 I believe he doubles his output and I think we win. He's a very efficient player that needs to be taking at least 10 shots a game if we want to Dance this year. The numbers don't lie. Between January 3rd and January 31st, Blizzard averaged 17.5 points per game and EWU went 6 and 1 during that stretch. Let's get him the ball!!!!!

I totally agree. I think playing him more and running the offense more effectively (better shot selection and moving the ball quicker on the perimeter) will strengthen the EAGS inside/outside game. I think playing Blizzard more will also reduce the amount of double teams that Jois gets, making Jois more effective in the paint. But this dynamic does not happen when the team relies on dribbling on the perimeter and forcing up poor 3 point attempts with 25 seconds left on the shot clock.

Work the offense and set up the inside/outside game. This team poses matchup nightmares but is not executing now.

When Bliznyuk was getting more time was when Harvey or Jois or both were injured.....who do you sit to get him more time now???? Possibly Miljkovic????
