The defense

I am a little concerned, It seems the offense has totaly owned the defense in the 3 scrimmages this fall, especially in the running department where the RB's have combined for over 700 yards. Shouldnt we be concerned?

I guess it could be 1 of 3 things.

1. Our offensive line is that good.

2. Our running backs are that good.

3. Or our defense is not that good.

Last year our defense ws horrid, we need to have a better defense this year and right now it doesnt look like they have improved much. Unless our offense is just THAT good.

What does everyone else think?

Also keep in mind that some of the defensive starters didn't play at all in the scrimmages, and those that did play didn't put in very many reps in the scrimmages. I think you will see they will be much improved from last year.

It begs the question, why weren't the starters playing in the scrimmages? Injuries? To avoid injuries? To give the younger backups plenty of reps?

First... YEs, the offense is going to be that good. The DL is going against one of the premier OL's in the country everyday. That alone is making the defense, especially the line, that much better. I'm thinking they, the DL, will be ready to go. Also, probably most importantly, the defense is really deep.

Second...Wildcat, come on man, give the RB and OL their correct dues. In the three scrimmages they accounted for over 900 yards of rushing offense. 840 by the TB and RBs alone. That isn't counting the QB and FB runs. Hoke and Adamcyk are both rushing weapons for the Cats. Not to mention the Big Boy who can pick up the ball and rush out of the FB position.

Third...yes, the by the final scrimmage, the coaches were giving the younger players some time to perform and to learn.

I'm thinking the defense will be just fine.

I did, I stated that they totaly OWNED the defense this fall

I know in years past that normally by the third scrimmage the starters get very limited play. There are also a select number of starters that wont even take a rep. These scrimmages are mainly for the younger players to get a chance to step up and make plays. It gives the coaches a better opportunity to evaluate the players and put together the second team and any additional traveling players.

We will find out quick how good this defense is, I know when we played Wyoming last they just punched the ball right up the gut freely. So hopefully we can nut up early and stop the run, and force them to throw.

I am getting excited just 8 more days.

The Defense...... i know that there is more depth on the D line than they have had in 4 years. Fresh legs mean consistent attack mode on the QB. Starters didn't take many reps so that everyone could get reps and work the system.

Eastman will be in full contact on Monday, medically cleared and a full recovery from his Spring surgeries. Having not played since he red shirted has fueled his fire to get back on the field. White will be a monster in the midway along with Vet. DE's working on containment, but the LB's will be bringing a lot of heat, Webb and company will be doing it BIG this year.

Our offense is loaded, i mean loaded. Look at the OL, all returnees...we have 2 legit tight ends, and our RB's are stacked. Hoke has a lot of weapons, and i do not see him forcing his throws into coverage, he's willing to tuck and run as needed.

This is going to be an EPIC season.....just like 2008.....Big Sky Champs on the table :)
