Berry's 3 with 1.3 seconds, ball seen going through the net....

Too much celebration after made 3. No wildcats are ready for the inbounds play..

The dreaded 0.7 tenths remain....

Inbounding at 0.7... Still not ready for the inbound pass...

First touch with 0.7.....

Turns with complete control of the ball with 0.6...

Begins the heave with 0.4 remaining....

Still attempting to heave with 0.3.....

Rises, elevates and launches with 0.2 tenths....?

How much time does one need to officially/technically get a shot off??
I remember hearing once that the NBA determined that it was impossible to get a shot off with anything less than 0.06 seconds.

I remember hearing that too. I would assume that would be a touch-and-shoot, not a catch, turn, and shoot. No way what he did can be done in 0.7.

But what about the ball going through the net with 1.3??? Clock operating was bad last night all the way around.

Well if it's 1.3 instead of .7 that's a whole different shot and mindset. It's not turn and heave, and then who knows what happens.. agreed clock operation was very poor in crucial moments

A lot of things have been said about this game; many of them from an emotional stand point. I hope I can add something of value here with my partial analysis. YES that last play in OT was a shock. Indeed ranking right up there with the Jim McMahon "Hail Mary" in The 1980 Holiday Bowl. That is a once in a life time opportunity for Garrity. This will be a huge wake up call and we WILL host the Conf. Tourney. The character of our student athletes is superb and we will rise above this.
Now for a couple of things I noticed. As bad as our BSC refs have been this year, in THIS game we got 5 more free throw attempts than Sac did. we missed 8. If we make just ONE MORE free throw the game doesn't even go into OT. Sac got whistled for 1 more PF than we did. Sometimes the timing of a bad call can be huge but again, that's the nature if the game and we get to play thru.
We were out rebounded by 4...coincidentally, 4 OFFENSIVE rebounds which could have been converted to 2nd chance points. We are hardly ever out rebounded. We win the battle of the glass and we win the game in most cases.
We were down on our shooting percentage behind the arc. 8 for 25? Holy cow,,that's huge! It all comes down to basics. If we had only made one more play in one or two categories, we get on the plane with a "W" in our pocket. We get to now stay focused on the basics, play hard on every possession, play as a team, be of one mind and one purpose as fans and we'll be just fine. An opponent throwing up a 75 foot prayer as time expires is not the same as our BSC Championship Luxury Liner hitting and iceberg in the middle of the night. Some people just have on idea how to look at the glass half full.

Here is, exactly, what happened.

The refs accepted that it took the clock operator .6 seconds to stop the clock on Berry's made shot. They also accepted that it took the same clock operator .6 seconds to start the clock after the touch from the inbounds pass. Therefor, the shot did get off on time. The final decision was a good one. No clock operator is 100% on their stops and starts. We are humans, after all.

It was a tense, highly emotional game, and all of the officials did the best that they could. Were there mistakes? Of course there were, last I checked refs are human too. There were no mistakes on that last play. :coffee:

Well said. And Born2BleedPurpleGuy is right, WE lost game because of our own mistakes on the floor. But it's a loss, not the end of the season.

to be honest the final 1.3 was moot when we gave them 4 free throws with 7.8 seconds left. we had the lead! how is no one on hear wigging out about that? i cant say ive ever been critical of our coaching staff on here even if we searched out all 5,000 of my comments, but a coaching tech and calling a timeout with none left isnt helpful to win a close one. rahe even said that in the post game.

Hmmm....where, oh where, might the 59 "lost" comments be? Scavenger hunt? Coverup?
