Montana is coming to town this Thursday ranked #1 in Big Sky play so far at 3 - 1. The eags are a half game back and tied for 2nd place. Showdown in Cheney this Thursday!!!

go eags!

This is a must-win game if we want to win the conference regular season title. The truth is the Griz aren't that great, already having lost to both Omaha and Montana Tech. The issue here is that it looks like they are a team trending upwards while Eastern has been trending downwards.

It'll be important for Eastern to come out blazing in this one. We can't afford the kind of slow starts we've had in all the league games so far. While I readily admit to not being that knowledgeable about basketball, it looks to me like Eastern has more talent. Add playing in Reese to the mix, and the table is set for an Eastern win. We just need to go out and make it happen.

They've got some guys that can definitely ball. Sayeed Pridgett is as tough as anyone in the Big Sky. Some of their complementary players are tough too. The Falls kid impressed me last year. They could definitely come to Cheney and beat us. I would agree they are trending up. I might force them to beat us from outside as they are not shooting the 3-ball well for the season. If they heat up then we can make some adjustments. Haven't seen any spreads yet but I'll say this one opens at eags -6.5

go eags!

We are the better team and we are playing at home, we should win this one by 10-12....

I expect Eastern to win the conference outright, besides our hiccup at ISU we are off to a good start. A win over UM would put us in the drivers seat

10-12??? OMG you have those red glasses on again!
I could see a 3 or 4 maybe 5 point win but not double digits.

What do you see as keys to the game?
IMO foul trouble will be a key element for us. If Peatling and Davison have 3 fouls by halftime the secound half could be ugly.

Foul trouble is definitely one of the keys to the game. I don't want to overthink this. Simple things like making free throws, and not turning the ball over are going to be extremely important. If we do the simple things well I think this will be a double-digit win. If not, we could lose. Just checked and it looks like the spread opened up at eags -6.

Great game today. Two games come to mind thus far where hitting the front ends of one and ones would have secured the win comfortably and we couldn't hit em (uneasy wins). Those two games cost me...so I'm due to have EWU cover the -6. Statement game time where we do get the dbl digit win (91-80) and the confidence in place to run the table (or close to it). Be prepared to make your free throws boys and stay away from the cesspool of getting into foul trouble. I thank you in advance. Go EAGS!!

What on Earth happened to this team? No hustle, can't hit a shot to save their lives, and just generally play like they ate 5 Xanax pills before the game.

The Eastern team of a month ago would beat the one tonight by 50.

Well, credit where it’s due: it most certainly WAS double digits....

I would agree with that. Same players, but playing like a different team. I'm hoping this was just an outlier game. Montana played a very good game, and we played about as bad as we could play. That might be as bad as I've seen us play in ten years. Something was just off tonight. Even on bad nights we don't play this bad. I said earlier there would be some peaks and valleys in this season. This is definitely a valley. We just need to make sure we're trending upward come March. Let's see how we respond. That will tell us about the character of this team.

go eags!

And to compound the problem Montana was coming off a looong road trip playing at SUU 1/2 then at N.Col. 1/4 (where they got beat 74-66) then to us. Yikes, seems like Shantay Legans and co. have one week before a two game road trip to right the ship. Good luck!
