The Grizzlies

Ok, I know that Scotts shot is still on everyone's mind (and why wouldnt it be?) but now I think its time we turned our attention to more important matters, like maybe League leading (courtesy of us :D ) Montana.

The Griz come in with a 8-1 mark in conf, they have won 6 straight games 3 road 3 home since getting thumped like us in Greeley. They will be just as tough or even tougher to beat than UNC was, The Griz are big and fast. Im hoping Weber can avenge not only thier tourney loss at home last year but thier beatdown by the Griz earlier this season.

It will be another close game, with Weber winning by 3. 68-65

I would rather this be the Saturday game, because weekend games are always the most packed, but hopefully we can still get another 7k+ to this thursday's game against one of our oldest Rivals.

GO WILDCATS

I'm extremely nervous about this game. I think although UNC's club is experienced and very disciplined, the Grizzlies have the most talent (aside from our squad). Our talented guys are young and are still lacking a leader. I hope we can squeak one out which would put us in prime position for getting a home game in the tourney.

I think if the Griz can split this road trip, they are in great shape for winning the conference. I was thinking maybe the NAU game was the win, but after seeing them today, I'm not sure. And winning in Flagstaff for the 2nd game of a road trip is doubly tough because of the altitude. I think both of the Griz games this weekend will be battles, and likely go to the buzzer.

Yeah I watched that game to, NAU looked really good for a team that had'nt played a game in 9 days, and Flagstaff has always been a very tough place to play. It seems UNC is finding out what its like to play on the road, its not as easy as playing at home. The whole Bears team looked like they have not yet recovered from the hertbreaker they suffered in Ogden on Saturday, they seemed a step slower than NAU, NAU had all the energy and Bietzle (sp?) looked rattled.

All I know is our home games this week are HUGE, the Griz and Bobcats are 2 of our oldest rivals and they always play us good home or away, I hope its a different result this time vs both of the Montana's, UM looks solid, especially inside, thats what worries me the most, MSU looks like they are slipping losing 3 straight, but they still have talent and will be tough to beat, Its going to be a very entertaining Big Sky hoops week.

Tonights game is going to be a great one. I'm thinking, it'll be an instant classic. Montana causes some extreme match up problems for the Cats. Truly, for the Cats to be successful then they will need to limit the play of the Grizzly Bigs. Qvale is a beast, but if there is one player in the Sky who can limit his touches and match up against him, it is Morris. Morris has the most experience playing against Qvale. I'm not going to say that Morris is better than Qvale, but for the Cats to be successful Morris will have to come up big tonight, which I think is a very definite possibility.

Next, the Cats cannot allow Selvig to have a big game tonight. He killed us in Missoula. He couldn't miss in the first half and what was worse was the Cats were giving him 3's all day. We know he can shoot it from outside, why weren't we doing a better job of playing perimeter D? Mahoney, Fulton, Bull, whomever is guarding Selvig must watch him on the outside, he isn't quick enough to penetrate, but he does have a deadly shoot, if he is on.

Cherry and Steward are the next two that I worry about. There is only one other player in the Sky that I think can take the Newcomer Award away from Scotty B, and that is Art Steward. He was a late signer for Tinkle and has proven to being an excellent addition. I think a lot of Grizz thought that Jameer Kamar was going to be the next reincarnated Richardson (UM Great) but hasn't panned out yet. I think Jameer is good and will end up being one of the best players to play in the Sky; however, he is only a Fresh. Steward, who was signed to be a role player, has turned into an absolute gem. After Selvig, he lit us up. Cherry...well, we all know what Cherry can do.

Yes, they have Vaughn and Stockton, but neither are huge worries. I like Vaughn and I think he'll be good.

Weber needs these two games this week. They can't let either team come into the Dee and push them around. They really need a good crowd tonight. I hope the people of Ogden show up in force and that the student section is large and loud.

Come on Ogden show up tonight to this game, support your team. There is NO EXCUSE for WSU to not average 10k per game. Show up, be loud, and lets kick some Griz A$$

As I said, I'm just hoping for a split on this trip. That would put Montana in GREAT position because of potential tie-break scenarios. Since they've already swept MSU, and since UNC has lost to both Weber and NAU, a win against one of those two teams would put the Griz in great shape. It would certainly cause me less stress on Saturday if the Griz can find a way to win tonight! 8-)

Where the hell is everyone?? The palace looks empty.

Thurs night...

It was a heck of a lot better than Stanford. I went to #22 Arizona at Stanford. It was absolutely pathetic. I left the arena with 8 min til half time to go home and watch the Griz/Weber game online. I'm glad I left.

I was proud of our home support this year after going to Stanford. Stanford holds 7,300 so its not huge, it wasn't more than half full. I counted 38 students at tipoff.

Having 5700 fans there on a Thursday night is not the bad. If this game was a Saturday night, then i would have expected 8000 or so. The crowd was small, but we were loud and proud, at times. :ugeek:

Yep the crowd was into the game thats for sure. Im hoping we get better numbers for MSU though, Montana did come in as the #1 team and I thought we could at least get 6,500
