The Hornets won the conference race by starting 20 yards ahead of everyone else.

Wow! Talk about sour grapes, Eastern Washington newspaper said we are not deserving of the Big Sky tittle and doesn’t think our team is very good! I

What a garbage of an article. Sac actually had the second highest SOS per Masseyratings in the Big Sky. I still laugh at people crying that we didn’t play Weber. This is 2021. Not 2019. Weber is barely above average this year. We dodged Eastern and MSU? Maybe they dodged us lol. Last time I checked, we were the defending champs (not counting the shortened Spring season). So if anything, they dodged us. Not our fault that FCS coaches and media only rank “historically” popular names until they had no choice but to rank us.

P.S, Didn’t the Hornets whooped EWU them the last the two teams played? Plus, Montana wasn’t a close game, we were running out the clock and Montana was trying to crawl back in. Just like the Davis game. We could have had 30+ push points had we kept pushing. But that’s not TT style (against good opponents). Never had been.

Do you think Vince “Griper” still writes that same article had EWU won the BSC outright with a similar or equal schedule? Highly doubtful.

We get it. Not being able to face all teams in conference isn’t optimal. And schedules aren’t equal.

But it’s still bush league to write an article like that and attempt to dismiss what SAC accomplished. He even gets in the jab regarding UM missing their starting QB, which is certainly true.

However, I didn’t see this author writing about SAC missing their top 2 offensive players and playing with an injured QB last postseason. Or missing their #1 WR and former #1 RB for key games this season.

Can’t have it both ways,

That said, I would love to see the Big Sky divided into North/South divisions with a conference championship played the week before postseason begins. It’s very doable and makes too much sense.

In his haste to smack the Hornets, he forgets about the formation of the WAC to provide potential OOC games. The Big Sky isn't the only game in town here in the West anymore. While I appreciate his argument about splitting the Sky (I've wanted to do the same for quite awhile), my plan would involve resurrecting the programs of several schools with dormant programs (to wit, UOP, LBSU, UC Santa Barbara, etc.) and resurrecting the old PCAA name to cover it. But his point about the combined record of our opponents fails to take into account the fact that one of our losses was to a playoff team, and that the other was a bodybag game against a P5 that nobody outside of Sac seriously expected us to win, and we actually acquitted ourselves fairly well in THAT one. We also took care of business at the end, whatever the schedule (which was set by the league office, NOT by us; we weren't skirting ANYBODY).

As Sac_hornets noted above, sour grapes, indeed.

I agree , there should be two divisions and a champion.

However, this is a backwash Spokane newspaper we are talking about. One rung above the school newspaper at EWU. Probably school newspaper hacks make more $$ in stipends than this jughead. Obviously it is a homer piece and contains absolutely zero research.

Maybe if EWU didn't shit the bed at home in back to back games against Weber and MSU then his article would have been a little less salty. Oh well, this doesn't diminish our outright BSC Title one bit.
