The OT win at Puketato

So, I was a spectater at 2 basketball games where the skill level, size, and age were considerably less than what we expect out of the Wildcats. What did I miss?

One of the best Weber State games this year, I watched it on Big Sky TV, Weber was down by 13-14 points came back to win in OT B-E-A-UTIFUL

Not to mention the Grisslys beat Portland State

"Idaho . . . Sucks . . ."

That's classic. Great job guys. Read Jason Asay's blog:

Wow!
The Wildcats showed again that they may be young, but they are tough. Tonight they fought back from a 13-poit deficit to lead Idaho State 63-62 with 1:32 left in regulation. Then the Bengals had a few chances to win the game but the Wildcat defense held.
Then, in overtime, the Wildcats dominated and left Pocatello with a 67-76 overtime win.
“We talk all the time that you don’t have to play perfect, you just have to play really hard, play together and play with some toughness and good things will happen,” said WSU head coach Randy Rahe. “And that’s what happened tonight.”
There were plenty of exciting moments on Thursday. Kellen McCoy’s layup that gave the ‘Cats the 63-62 lead. The way that freshman Damian Lillard took over in overtime by scoring nine of his team-high 22 points.
But something else that I’ll remember for a long time happened during a time out in the second half. Weber State fans on one side of the Holt Arena began chanting “Weber” and fans on the other side would then chant “State.” It’s something that the fans do back home in the Dee Events Center. However, since the ISU fans largely outnumber those wearing purple, they soon took over and after the first set of fans shouted “Weber” the ISU fans would shout “Sucks,” drowning out the rest of the Wildcat fans.
But the quick-thinking students from Weber State, who later waited outside in the cold to cheer for the players as they got on the bus to go home, turned things around and instead of yelling “Weber” they yelled “Idaho,” only to have the ISU fans shout “Sucks.” It took three or four times before the ISU fans realized what had happened.
Classic!

Hahahahaha yes! I so told everyone to chant Idaho!

Clown, keep telling yourself if it makes you feel important that anyone heard that, the only thing that we could hear is "WEBER SUCKS". you're an idiot if you think 100 fans are gonna drown out 3200.. Nice luck out, though. I'll be in Ogden to see my boys exact the revenge.. BTW, if I take any solace from the game, it is the schooling that Stucki gave Hansen and Davis. I'll throw that in the Hansen-lovers face for a long time. I hope you all noticed that you're team was better WITHOUT him on the floor.. Lillard is a BEAST, and a lock for BSC FR of the year. What a baller. Bullinger too.

Here's an interesting and sad (for ISU fans) P.S. to last night's game...just released by ISU...

Idaho State Admits to Scoring Mistakes in Idaho State-Weber State Basketball Game
Two players, one on each team, played after fouling out

Pocatello, ID --- Idaho State University officials have admitted that two mistakes were made in the official scorebook during the second half of Weber State’s 76-67 overtime win on Thursday night that inadvertently affected the outcome of the game. The mistakes occurred in the recording of a pair of fouls, one on each team that allowed for two players to finish the game with five fouls each.

The first scoring mistake occurred at the 17:14 mark of the second half, when a foul that was called on Idaho State’s #32 Felix Caspari was credited in the official scorebook to #33 Deividas Busma. Busma did not play in the second half. The foul should have been Caspari’s second foul of the game. He also committed fouls at the 15:34 mark and at the 14:26 mark, the last of which should have been his fourth foul. He then committed a foul with 3:07 to go which should have been his fifth, but the official scorekeeper’s error made it only his fourth. Caspari played the final 3:07 of regulation and the first 1:20 of the overtime with five fouls, recording a rebound, a block, and a missed free throw on a one-and-one.

The second error occurred with 14:19 to go, when a foul on Weber State’s Daviin Davis was not recorded in the book, although it was briefly recorded on the scoreboard and announced by the public address announcer. The foul, which was Davis’ first of the half and fourth of the game, was removed from the scoreboard at the 14:11 mark. Davis committed his fifth foul with 5:22 to go, but the previous omission left it at his fourth foul. Davis played the final 5:22 of regulation and all of overtime with five fouls, scoring six points in the final 3:52 of regulation to help send the game to overtime. Overall, he went 2-for-3 from the field with two threes, 1-for-2 from the line for seven total points with a steal, a defensive rebound, and a blocked shot.

The omission of the foul also meant that ISU missed an opportunity in regulation for a one-and-one at the 7:00 minute mark as a foul on Kellen McCoy should have been the seventh team foul, not the sixth, sending Amorrow Morgan to the line. Also, Felix Caspari’s one-on-one with 4:22 to go in overtime should have been the 10th team foul, not the ninth, thus a two-shot foul.

“We are tremendously sorry to the coaching staffs on both teams that a clerical error like this has marred an otherwise exciting Big Sky Conference basketball game,” said Interim Athletic Director Jeff Tingey. “The coaches, and the game officials are dependent upon the official scorer and the table crew, and that fact that this has happened is not something we take lightly.”

“After reviewing the tape of the game, it is obvious that a pair of mistakes were made that were critical to how the game played out both ways,” said Asst. A.D. for Media Relations Frank Mercogliano, who oversees the table crew for men’s basketball. “Our official scorer has been here for 25 years, and he is one of the best I’ve been associated with. He is absolutely heartbroken over this turn of events. He prides himself on his accuracy and being a part of the official crew, and he feels like he let them down.”

The game is official and the NCAA does not recognize protests or any replays of games, or resumptions. The two teams play in Ogden on Saturday night.

It really doesn't matter if Stucki schooled Hanson. In the end Hanson got the last laugh. As for the whole fiasco with the scores table, it's a shame. That would never happen in Ogden. I knew something was going on and I knew Davis had fouled out of the game. But what happened happened. Forget about it and play ball. Quit being a poor sport.

So wait...if you didn't hear us saying "Idaho", how'd you hear us saying "Weber" in the first place? One would think that if you heard our boisterous crowd say "Weber", then change your chant to "sucks", you could hear us loud and clear. We'll make sure to show you how the chant is supposed to work in the Dee, with 6,000-7,000 fans strong. You're more than welcome to take notes :)

Sincerely, clown

PS: Regardless of smack, I thought that Stucki was a beast. Really reminded me of when Lee Cummard came to the Dee a couple months ago and couldn't miss. I honestly did think that shot at the end of regulation was going in. Hopefully we can hold him to his average tomorrow in Ogden. Thank you for the compliments about our freshmen, we're definitely happy to have those guys around for another 3 years.
