The PAC/MWC Dominoes Begin to Fall

Not to give this guy too much attention, but he is still saying Sac State would be FCS and have a FBS heavy schedule. If that were possible, this would mean there would be few home games, because an FBS team is not going to indulge us in our dreams and also travel to our home field. There is also the problem that PAC wants to be taken seriously. If they're all going to schedule an FCS school that is beneath their standards, but on paper has the ability to beat them. Nah.... PAC is better off legitimizing Sac State with the FBS invite if they are going to play them.

I don't know what's going on with Sac State and where they'll end up, but this idea he's pushing is a lose lose for everyone.
As mentioned above -- we can't be an FCS team and have an FBS heavy schedule -- the FCS does not allow a team to not have a conference affiliation. You have to play conference games...

Yes. Independence in FCS or FBS would require suing the NCAA for a waiver. Even trying to pursue that is ridiculous for reasons myself and others have pointed out.

Didn't listen to the segment. FCS Independence is nonsensical, I assume any reference to that was meant to be FBS.

FBS independence is almost as nonsensical. FBS indy's don't get FBS playoff money (unless you make it like ND) so we'd be funding an FBS program without the revenue. Schedule wise, we'd have a very difficult time filling the late October and November schedule. Good look recruiting and retaining quality coaches in that situation.

Back to realignment, TX State is the PAC's last FBS option and likely means they weren't able to woo any of the top tier AAC members. TX State's addition would allow the PAC to maintain FBS status so I think it is a must move for them as they are currently down to under 6 months of having to find an FBS member.
During the season that our stadium is under construction could be a great year to have an extra 2 road game pays.

The PAC even if adding TX State could do a scheduling agreement with us 2-3 seasons various teams also MWC.

When stadium complete we can start our first season in new stadium w extra 1-2 home games w FBS in the house if we are at worst case scenario only FBS independent.

Those would be paydays and great ticket revenue for us

If we are FBS Indy my least fav choice it’s still better money than what we earn from big Sky conf.

It will all depend upon who we can schedule games with? If we get UCLA away games for 2 seasons, UTAH ST, Stanford, Fresno St, Nevada, Wyoming, Oregon St, TX State, UNLV or Colorado St , FUCD and CAL Poly. 2-3 yrs we would be solid!!!

If we compete 7-4 or something respectable we will be invited!

Also great that we wouldn’t have a Big Exit Anchor on our ankle.

It’s all about the scheduling. And PAC isn’t stacked full in FB,

Rest sports big west

“Stadium will be torn down at the end of the season”.
”Soon”.
What season? What year?

Haven’t seen or heard anything from the Sac12 group in months.

These guys are turning into class A politicians.

There is a video clip of him saying that the renovations to existing area will begin now and build out of the stadium the following season.

There are a lot of moving parts and Dr. Wood is not in control of all of them. I also have a suspicion that the PAC has moved the goal posts and we're adjusting to the new realities.

Sac12 is a political/marketing entity. Not the university itself. If they are quiet, maybe their public facing heavy lifting is done.

As I've said before, a whole lot of very smart, successfull people have made career changing decisions in the last couple of months. It would be a scandal of epic purportions if everyone was being lied to.

Renovations? I don’t want a single nut/screw leftover from the scaffolding stadium that stands today.

Where is the new 25,000sq ft football center? I heard somewhere that this is completed. Not a single verb mentioned during construction of said facility.

The FCS/FBS independence concept is nonsensical. Risk a stable home in the Big Sky for a bunch of road games against FBS programs in hopes of an invite? If that is seriously the plan then I don't see how the football program survives in the long term. We're either getting an FBS invite or we are not. I don't see how there can be success going at it via the independent route at either the FCS or FBS level.

Given how the NCAA is crumbling before our eyes (lol at the Xavier Lucas story), I can see the legitimacy to suing our way into FBS independence (assuming Dr. Wood wants to blow millions of dollars on lawyers in that effort)...just not seeing how Hornet football benefits from it other than getting to claim FBS status.

Nothing major is going to move until approval from the CSU BOT is received. Per Kadeezy, that won't happen until March. If it doesn't happen this spring then I think this all falls apart. Lots of things have happened for this to be one big rug pull...but that doesn't mean that's not a possibility. I'll remain cautiously optimistic for a few more months. Also I don't recall mention of a 25k SF facility, where was this mentioned?

An FBS invite is not in Dr. Woods control, all he (and his proxies) can do is check all the boxes possible and lobby hard for an invite.

Frustrating to be sure. Past history has the WREC (2004) being approved with student fees and we know where that went.
Part of me is excited that maybe we finally have traction and part of me looks at the announcement from Dr. Wood as wishful rhetoric from a newly appointed President looking to make a public splash with no real teeth behind it to get it done.

As a west coast school there are really only two FBS conference options and one FCS option, so not alot of opportunity to grow. If the big boys dont want to share then we are regulated in FCS purgatory.
