The starting 5

Since Wheels is gone, here is how I see the staring 5.
1. Richardson
2. Berry
3. Hill
4. Bolomboy
5. Tres

Our first 5 off the bench are. Senglin, Williams, Fuller, Hajak and Fulton. I still really wish we could RS Gittens, but doubt that will happen. I know Berry was our starting SF last year, but since we have some depth at the SF with Hill, Williams and I think Fuller can play there too, having Berry start the SG make sense to me. Williams I think has a chance to start too, but I just have a hunch Hill will be a stud for us and be a 3-4 year starter.

Looks good to me. I don't think it will be possible for Gittens to RS. Weber will be to thin on the guard line. Maybe JC Kennedy could play and allow Gittens a year to RS, but to me, wouldn't the Cats rather have the more talented guy available? The more I think about it, the more I think Wheels is leaving because he is pouting about something. He didn't get his way. Well, thats life deal with it and MAN UP.

Still solid across the board, even without Wheels. Definitely takes a chunk out of Weber State's highly-touted depth, though.

McDonald and Leeks could see a little playing time if needed. Both of those kids are fundamentally sound and have a good skill level. I'm sure that the only reason that Leeks is not at another mid major is that he is basically a 6'5'' power forward. If he was a few inches taller, he may have been a high major. McDonald had mid major offers, but none he liked. He is a good ball handler and a better than average outside shooter. At about 6'4'', he can play the 2 or the 3. We will be thinnest at center, until James returns. Byron's return to the lineup will help in the post until James can return.

We can not afford any more injuries.

We had a really experienced team. Now, not so much! We really needed Wheels and his experience. This is going to hurt, but we are no longer as deep or good without Wheels. Please someone tell me I am wrong and then back it up with evidence from what the newbs have done against Big Sky and Division I Ncaa teams?

Stop being such a defeatist. Wheels is gone. It was his decision. He abandoned his teammates and gave up. I wish him the best, but...the program and the team, has got to move on. :coffee:

I'm not! You are full of it. Once again acting like you know everything! Tell me Tal, how is a walkon like MacDonald going to make up for the loss of an experienced veteran, with the talent of Wheels? He won't. End of story. I haven't seen Senglin play and nor do I think, right now, he is as good. I really hope he proves me wrong, because we need him to, but right now, I'm doubting he can make an immediate impact to make up for the loss of Wheels. One week ago Wheels wrote that he was back at school, representing by wearing all Weber gear. Now he is back in Long Beach. WTF?? What happened?? I want answers. :wtf:

HELL!! I don't have any idea why Wheelwright left the team and I don't care. To me it was his decision. He is the quitter. Yes, playing a sport is hard, and dealing with coaches and teammates isn't necessarily easy, but that is part of the process. Learn how to deal with others and MAN UP!!! Wheelwright decided that it was too tough to do that so now he is in LB and that is fine. Will I miss him? Of course! Do I know that he was a talent? YES! Is he gone? YES! Time to move on and do what is best for the program and the team. Who knows, maybe one of the walk-ons will do something more than what we expect from them and really be a difference maker. This might be better for the team in the long run. We will just have to wait and see. Oh, and since there isn't anything else to put our faith in, we might as well trust in what Senglin, Fuller, Hill, and Gittens are bringing to this team. They are all still here!

The online roster was updated today and Borklund is on it, but MacDonald is not.

I saw Christian on Friday with the team. Doesn't exactly mean anything, but... :kisswink:

And yes Catcat...Weber will only have 10 scholarship players until Hajek returns. Hopefully, early December.

I'm thinking the Cats will be fine though.

PG: Richardson/Senglin
SG: Williams/Gittens
SF: Berry/Hill/Fuller
PF: Bolomboy/Fulton/Fuller
C: Tresnak/Bolomboy

We all know that Berry can play the 1, 2, and 3 and I'm thinking Fuller can play the 2, 3, and 4. Yeah, he brings a lot to this team. I'd like more depth, but I'm thinking the Cats will be fine.

I don't think we will be seeing anyone switching between 3 and 4. 1,2, and 3, yes. 4 and 5, yes.

I suspect that either Hill or Fuller will be shifted to be playing only the 3 spot for the season. I think that it would be Hill, but I really don't know. We may see times when Fulton is playing center. I'm not real sure how much Borkland might be able to contribute. Honestly, I think that Leeks could see time at 4 or 5.

What I think will happen is that everyone is going to fall in love with Senglin. Do I think he will start, not sure, but I think he may get starters minutes either way. Gittins can play 2 or 3. If he plays or red shirts will depend on how everyone else is doing at their respective positions and how he feels about it.

If it was me, and knowing what I know at this point, this is how I see it.

1 Richardson/Senglin/Berry
2 Berry/Senglin/Williams/Gittins/Mcdonald
3 Hill/Williams/Berry/Gittins/McDonald/Kennedy
4 Bolomboy/Fuller/Fulton/Leeks
5 Tresnak/Bolomboy/Fulton/Leeks/Hayack/Borkland

Of course, James moves up the list when he returns and we get into a more normal rotation. :coffee:

You think Fulton will be 3rd on the depth chart at the 4? I really hope he plays his way into decent minutes in this his SR year.

So, last year this is what our starters did
Tresnak 12 points / 5.5 rebounds
Otis 9 and 6
Berry 15 and 4
Bamforth 14 and 4
Richardson 7 and 2

Off the bench
Bolomboy 7 and 7
Wheelwright 6 and 2
Rest of the bench 8 and 5

So, can we count on Tresnak contributing a bit more in both points and rebounds? Say 13 and 6. Will Bolomboy get us a double-double? 10 and 10 Will Berry's ppg go up a bit? Maybe 17? And how about Richardson? Maybe 8 or 9?
If we hope to match last year's scoring #s we will need our fifth starter to get at least 6 a game and then we'll need close to 25 a night off the bench. Tall order.

Scoring will not be an issue with this team. With the addition of Hill and more minutes for Bolomboy, I don't suspect that rebounding will be an issue either. Defensive efficiency will, largely, depend on Joel, Kindahl, and Kyle staying out of foul trouble. Although we are not thin at 1 through 4, we are quite thin at the center position. We could use Braxton right now. Leeks could really earn his stripes in this first couple of months play. :coffee:
