I figure this weeks game vs. Southern Utah will tell if Sears will be back. Do not see them coming back after 1-3 start and 1-2 home stand. If they win, they stay alive. This week starts Conference

Sac State does need to come out prepared and win against Southern Utah. 6 home games. 7,800 at the first game . 8,300 last week.
Cannot recall a season when we had more home games then away.
Need to win this Saturday.
Get it all together and be the good team that you are.
Go Hornets
and
Stingers UP
Who knows what the final straw will be (or if Orr has one since Sears’ is in the final year of his contract) but the Hornets are likely staring at a 1-4 record heading into the bye week. The schedule is more favorable in the 2nd half of the season with a 3 game home/road split against teams that haven’t looked very strong as of this week. However this team won’t win them all so even if the Hornets win every home game (Sears hasn’t won a road game since 2014) it’s still a 4-7 record when it’s all said and done.Green Laser said:I'm not sure if this game will or should be the final straw. I do think there will have to be compelling improvement and success the rest of the way to earn a extension. Hard to get a feel on how good any of the Big Sky teams are at this point. Weber and Southern Utah seem to be the most consistent so far.
We will know a lot more after this weekend.

If you go into the final year of a four year contract without an extension offered that in itself is a vote of no confidence.
The new Davis AD did it well in a similar situation last year. Mid season he announced that there would be an "evaluation" of the football program, everyone including Gould knew what that meant. I couple of days after they won the Causeway he pulled the trigger. I'm pretty sure he had contacted Hawkins and others to see if they were interested before he fired Gould.

Having said that, I don’t think Orr can afford to wait until the end of the season to make his decision on Sears and there is no reason to believe a lackluster 4-7 record convinces him otherwise. Orr probably starts outreach to his preferred candidates before the season ends. Best case scenario is we have a new HC in place by Christmas. :twocents:

I think the football coaching staff was the primary reason Orr was brought on board. He was not brought in to play loser roulette. I figure if we are 1-4 at the bye week Sears will be out, giving an Interim HC the chance to stabilize the team. A new search will begin but not wrap up until after the season end.
