Dominating performance against SUU. SUU didn’t have their starting QB (a dual threat guy) but the Hornets played so well I don’t think it would have mattered. It was a complete game by the Hornets and a very impressive one at that.
Defense played stellar again and clamped down. 3 picks, 3 sacks, 5 TFLs. Hornet D made a pick on SUUs opening drive that set the tone early. Game was pretty much over at halftime. Would have been 30-7 if a pick didn’t gift SUU with a 1st and goal at the 1 early on. D let up in the early 4th that allowed the game to get closer than it really was, but the Hornet D controlled most of the game.
Offense was stellar behind a record performance by Thomson (7 TDs). Hornets cashed in on the early pick and aside from some early jitters really turned it on and did whatever they wanted. SUU had no answer to the read option.
Special teams really cleaned things up. Only mishap was a low snap that resulted in a missed PAT early in the game.
