This is the year to beat BYU

Good riddance, we have a 14 year/game losing streak to those guys. Rahe being responsible for 11 of those loses. If there were a year to get rid of the goose egg, it is this year. This game will be at home, BYU will have played on the road at Illinois State two days before, and they will be without Nick Emery (we are his last game before he can play again). Can Rahe get the team ready for chance to finally beat them?

BUT if we do beat them could they be the next Utah? We gave them an a$$ kicking and they havent played us since..

Utah's issue is more than the butt kicking, it is their coach. We have to remember where LK played his college ball at. Also, they are in a power conference and even a 40min drive is too far to go for some of these teams. Personally, I think it is crazy that Utah doesn't play the Cats, but that is their prerogative. At least we get to tangle with them next year.

I won't go off like I'm tempted, but Tal is right about the coach. For basketball I don't believe there is such a thing as power conferences since there are plenty of none P5 schools that are power basketball schools.

But more to the point, can Utah claim that are actually in a power conference?

Actually, if you're peaking in April, you're playing in the Final Four, which would really be nice!

I've said all along that this year's team is deep and talented, which should help with our team having some gas in the tank come tournament time. There are so many variables for tournament success--staying healthy, how guys play together/accept roles, personal issues. But if all the stars align, this team will be really good in March and hopefully April ;-)

In the history of WSU basketball, we have played in April just once. It was, arguably, the best year ever for Wildcat basketball.

No olds, just no.... :wall: :wall:

I hate to be the bearer of the truth but if you don't peak before April, you aren't going to be playing in April....and realistically, do you think you have a chance at the Final Four?

No, olds does not believe in getting to the Final Four. He is content with CIT runs and playing no names at home. I rather the team peak in November, and hold the peak till they lose somewhere at the dance. Randy cant comprehend that a team can win OOC games and do well in "league." I want the team to be playing their best ball all season long. For some reason, his teams cant figure out his system till mid January, which is strange, because even the starters from previous years cant seem to figure it out. :twocents:

Well here are a few of my thoughts:
At the beginning of last season or any point until the game was played, did anyone think UMBC would be the first #16 seed to beat a #1? At the beginning of last season or any point before tourney began, did anyone think Loyola of Chicago would be a Final Four team?

So when someone asks if it's realistic to believe that Weber is a Final Four team, there's only one realistic answer: "There's a reason we play the games!" We don't lie down and die because we play Michigan or Villanova or anyone else. Mid-majors are closing the gap on the blue bloods, and there is a "Cinderella" or two every year who "crash the dance". Just because it hasn't happened at Weber doesn't mean it can't or won't. Why not Weber?

You can hate me all you want. I still like you.

We all want to win every game and be national champs. Most teams, that do well, get better all season long. A team that isn't getting better is a mediocre team. If you are as good as you're going to get, you are not very good and will never be great. :coffee:

If anyone hates you Olds, shame on 'em! We're all Weber State fans and want the team to excel. Here's hoping to a great season in a really competitive league!

 This https://www.ksl.com/article/4642401...s-other-penalties-for-role-in-nick-emery-case is how Weber gets a win in Provo.

If I understand it correctly, Saturday, December 5th, 2015, @BYU (Vivint Smart Home Arena) will still be a 68-73 loss because Emery did not play in that game.

However, I believe the Wednesday, December 7th, 2016, @BYU (Marriot Center) 66-77 loss will be changed to a win for the Wildkitties

Finally a W against the Cougs and in Utah County no less. NICE JOB COACH!!

I take back everything I have ever saw wrong about Rahe. He needs to get a raise and extension for these twice wins!!! Incredible! Best coach to ever come through the program! I guess he’s really 2-10 vs BYU now!!

I went to a byu game last week, @ 7th ranked Nevada who has 3 nba prospects including 2 wooden award candidates. Byu looked really good against them and they cost me $30 by being tied at halftime.

Byu has a big we cant stop. He was their best player. They had this little Benjamin Button looking guard that was pretty awesome too.

I am not sure if this is the year unfortunately. I'm just glad its not at the delta center so hopefully we can beat Rose.

Haha, I've heard some compare TJ Haws to Gollum from Lord of the Rings, but I think Benjamin Button is a kinder and more apt description of him. He is a very good offensive player, but a little too whiny. Yoeli Childs is a very good player who has consistently demonstrated that he is too much for Zach, Brekkot, and company. Unfortunately, I don't see us beating BYU this year--they have too many good offensive players.

Hats off to you Sir Velo, Benjamin Button is really funny for Haws!

Not sure how deep the Y really is this year, but Yoeli Childs reminds me a lot of Sir Charles when he was at Auburn (shows how old I'm getting). Has that "Round Mound of Rebound" build and some hops to go with it.
