It looks like they have updated the weights for the OL and there are some big bodies on the line. The OL is probably the biggest concern I had going into the season but if their physicality can match their size we should be fine. Both PuaPuaga and Taylor are listed at 330 pounds, it will be interesting to see who is listed as starters. I wish they would post a depth chart to give us an idea.

joeman,
Here are some more OL to watch: #60 Jerrod Jones, 295, #63 Jack Hunter,#64 Chris Schlichting 275, he looks heavier, he had committed to Mont, then came here, spoke to him few times very happy to be here, #65 Tristen Taylor, think he will be a beast on the line, #67, Big Ben PuaPuaga, Will Gram 275 #70 Matt Meyer 310, #74 Nick Ellison 270, #75 Spencer Blackburn 280, &77 Levi Long 280. A few of them are Freshman, and coming along very well. Go Eagles!!!!! Vic Wallace

I've never been so excited about an incoming O-line class. Can't wait till these guys gel.

I couldn't even begin to guess at a depth chart with this squad. Jones and Ellison most likely at the tackles, but I have no idea after that. Center is going to be a huge ?

I thought Spencer Blackburn would be the starter but Jim mentioned he was second on the depth chart. Curious if anyone has any info that has seen any practices. From what I have seen in videos and pictures the OL has put on some decent weight in the off season. Now if we could just get the DE's to do the same.

The typical problem with playing young OL isn't size or footwork, it's that younger guys generally haven't developed adequate strength to play college football at a high level. It makes it especially important for these guys to be working out like beasts and eating proper diets. Every legit D1 OL should be benching above 405 and dead lifting over 500. You just don't see that in 19 year olds all that often unless they are certifiable superfreaks.

This group looks more physical than OL from the previous few years so it looks like the weight program has them on the right track. Also, most of these guys were All State selections so I think the skill level is there and I don't think they are going to get pushed around much this year.

330 is huge. At 6'4, there's little doubt he will play on the interior. I wonder what the plan is for Taylor. It seems like the mold for Tackles at Eastern has been guys in the 6'6-6'7, 300 lbs. range. Guys that were multiple sport athletes in high school that can move around and flex well. 330 seems big for a tackle unless he's just a freak athlete. I'll bet both of these guys end up playing OG.

Latest from Jim on how the line is shaping up. Looks like Taylor is the heir-apparent to Debord at LT, Jones getting most of the reps at Center, and a bunch of different guys at Guard.

Scary thought - Nick Ellison, a Freshman backup last season, is the most experienced returning player on the line. :o

I never thought of Jerrod Jones as the center. It makes sense, though. The guy has amazing "push" and will really help "up the gut" plays. That and being the oldest offensive lineman, and a very good leader, it's nice to see him anchor down the middle.

There's a lot to be excited about with this group, along with the kids we signed this year. I expect some growing pains early on but this should be a great group going forward.

Hopefully there will be improvement in playing WSU and NDSU on the road to start the season.

UNI becomes a must win if playoffs are in the making this year. Griz at home which is a plus.

Toughest road games are @ NAU and @PSU. MSU in rebuilding mode, plus EWU has their number.

7-4 should get them in if it includes win over UNI. 2017 should be the year where Eags are a Top 5 team again.

Best case is 8-3. IMHO
