Thoughts on PW game

Hey, i wasn't able to make the scrimmage. can any of you who went give some thoughts on how we looked? How did Washington and the JC guys look? Lillard? Bullinger and Mahoney? Morris and panos?

Overall this team is by far more athletic than last years team, Washington, Mahoney, and Coro did not play due to injury.
Lillard appears to be a MUCH better shooter than last season. Should be a fun season, bring your friends and neighbors to the games.

I think we will have a better understanding of our team after the exhibition game tomorrow night. However, from what I saw, the team was quick, disciplined, and in excellent condition. Its unfortunate that Washington and Mahoney didn't get to play due to injuries, but I'm sure both of them are going to be huge contributors to our team. Tomorrow night we should get a chance to see Washington.

Personally, I think Fulton and Davis are both going to be excellent players! These are two freshmen who were battling with the veterans for the entire game, and did a great job. However, it would probably be good for Fulton to red-shirt this season. Give him a little more time to grow and develop and also, to learn the big man role, but if he plays I think he will be fine. He has a great outside shot for a big man.

Davis is going to be a beast for the Cats. That kid never gives up on any play and is all over the court. He already has the body to play DI ball, and could immediately help out the team. Unlike Fulton, Davis could get some mins this season due to the lack of 3s on the team.

Its bad Coro is injured. I wanted to see his shot. Supposedly, he is the best shooter on the team. As for the three new JC's... WOW!! The Wizard did a great job finding these guys. Each will play a significant role in the success of the team. Hughey, is a fighter and a leader. He has good ball control and can slash. He has decent moves and will only get better. Nobel, is going to be a great back up to Lillard, and I can see him coming into the games as either a 1 or 2 and playing alongside Lillard with both of them on the floor you could see an opposing team committing a lot of turnovers. Session!!! WOW!! That guy can move... Did anyone else see his vertical? How on Earth did Weber get him. He is a phenomenal athlete.

The Purple and White is a great place to be introduced to the kids and get a taste of their skills, but not until we see them go against some competitions can we understand how good they can be.

Lillard and Session

Lillard had 27 pts and shot 4-6 from the arc.

Pablo Coro has a broken foot. Out til January. I assumed he would redshirt anyway.

The Standard said Washington has a sore Achilles tendon.

"I'm not worried about having newcomers because last year we had six newcomers and we went 15-1 (in conference)," Lillard said. "Everybody's fitting in just fine."

Did anyone else notice that the last period was the starters against the second string in an overtime scenario? Honestly, the Cats second string could start for a number of Big Sky/DI schools. Weber is really lucky to have such depth this season. The second string at the Purple and White game: Noble, Hughey, Davis, Fulton (Mahoney/Washington), and Morris. Each were able to contribute in the game. Unfortunately, in that last scenario, the second string didn't do much as the starters virtually shut them down. I really like the Noble/Hughey combination on the floor, they can really move the ball.

A couple of thoughts on Sessions....he put on quite the dunk show in warm-ups. Major hops. I was anxious to see what he could do after, and was afraid that he was all about the air. But he played quite well. He hit is first 3-point shot (his shot seemed a little Ronnie-Brewer like) and calmly sank a couple of free throws later on. Seems to have a nice touch. I am sure he was disappointed he wasn't able to get to the rim during the game, but it will happen and people will come out of their seats when it does.

On defense he had rotations that put him on Hansen for most of the half. Nick hardly saw the ball. When the team switched players at half-time, Sessions ended up with Lillard quite a bit of the time. Lillard's ability to create space and get shots was all the more impressive with a quick player like Sessions guarding him. Lillard is so fun to watch, I am really looking forward to this season!

I was also impressed with Hughey and especially Fulton--who looked much better than a typical freshman and had a nice shot. Davis, on the other hand, never really seemed comfortable.

I have read your board for awhile but have been hesitant to sign on as there seem to be an inordinate amount of NY Yankee fans running the place--what is up with that anyway?
