Thoughts on the [Sac State] game

First of all I never would have predicted a Weber State blowout, Sac is better than that, but the road must be getting to them, hopefully they can right the ship and get Montana (who tried many times to give EWU the win) next week.

2nd, How about that run offense? that was amazing, I havent seen Weber run the ball that easily in a long time, Not to mention Mike Hoke had a great game, our RB's are looking great and our o-line was dominant today.

3rdly, WHAT AN IMPROVEMENT ON DEFENSE, our defense was hungry from the get go, I was incredibly impressed with the ferocity (SP?) of our defense tonight.

I also really liked the fireworks that welcomed Weber out of the tunnel that was cool.

I give this team an A- only cause they missed 2 field goals, and commited to many personal fouls. :bad:

Now lets go to greeley and get another W at the expense of the Bears, who lost by 30 to ISU, yes you heard me right, they lost by 30 to ISU (how long has it been since ISU has beaten a div 1 school by 30?)

what a game, dont even know where to start...great game! big win, signature win for the season after those stupid fbs games!

to think the last td didnt count cuz penalty and 2 missed fg's ( 1 because of penalty) and we could have scored over 60!

FBS games only made them stronger and believers in themselves. The 2nd half of the USU game lit a fire underneath the defense. They won't be intimidated by any other offense for the rest of the year because they'll never have to face anything like that again.

i do agree with that about fbs, you play much better teams than what you will see in big sky. rahe tries to do that in bball, play a big team before conf, then league games you see lesser teams so if you can hang with bigger teams you certainly can beat sky teams.

I also see what you mean as well. Tough to make the playoffs with 2 FBS games. But as a former player I can tell you that those games get the guys excited and are what get them motivated to get in the gym and do summer drills/workouts. The order of importance is National Champs > Big Sky Championship > FBS win > Playoff win > Making playoffs > Montana school sweep. FBS games are the time when we can release some of that chip on our shoulder against the so-called "big boys".

true, but sure would be nice to be 2-1 with a close wyo game and wins over sac and say uc davis right now. maybe i will get my wish in 10 or 20 yrs.

Yeah, but Weber will eventually start winning some of these games. We're SOOOO close. Next year will be pretty tough though.... Fresno State and BYU. Although I might add I think we could beat BYU this year. Heaps looks like a deer caught in the headlights..... and a girl.

Here's to Utah State embarrasing BYU and making us look a whole lot better the rest of the season.

great
28 1st downs
522 total yds
324 yds rushing
7.4 ypc
hoke 3 td, 0 picks
kehano 4 catches, 80 yds

D had 3 picks!!
james 75 yd pick-6
pugh 33 yds
marciel

punting awesome again

sac's hilliard is a 1,000 yd guy, he had over 100 at suu and 73 in ogden. good to hold a guy that good under 100.

not good
11 penalties, 107 yds
because of final penalty tuckett's awesome TD was called back, that was a shame to see happen.
FG kicking, mcclain got screwed on the first one, it went in then penalty on team, 2nd attempt missed. can't get on the kicker for going 0-2 in that one. (he was 15-20 last yr, 3-6 this yr, should be 4-6).

kinda hard though to even attempt to say anything negative about this huge win but a lot of penalties we can for sure improve on.

I thought Sac State would have been a lot tougher. Great game for the offense and defense.

This was the first football game my wife has ever attended(She's from Europe). She was expecting only drunk men and hooligans, like all those soccer fans in Europe, but she had a great time and was surprised to see so many women/families at the game.

Attendance: I thought the BYU-Utah game would keep people home, but was pleasantly surprised to see 8000+
Looking forward to Idaho State October 15.

  Funniest thing I've read on this board in a long while.

The atmosphere and experience last night was awesome! The stadium looks great with the new turf, track, landscaping, and banners. And as always the big screen was great. The pregame flares were cool and unexpected. Weber kicked some a$$ on the field, the crowd was pretty damn good, the weather was nice, and the kids enjoyed the fireworks following the game. I was truly proud to be a Wildcat fan last night. Everything from the facilities to the team is improving each and every year. I couldn't be happier. I hope all those fans that decided to skip the game to watch that terrible BYU/Utah blowout are kicking themselves after missing what was a very enjoyable night. Go Cats! NOT ON OUR TURF!

:agree: We had fun last night, We certainly had more fun than the week before.

Play calling on both sides of the ball was much improved.

After all that has been said about how our games have been called, I think it only fair to point out that things were done quite well last night. Even though we were quite predictable in the second half, with the run game, when we needed to be unpredictable we were. The flow of the game was quite good. I liked the hurry up and substitutions were made in a timely manner.

I give the coaching staff an A+ for this one.

Fantastic win! We knew the offense was firing on all cylinders from the Wyoming game, but it was great to see the defense make some big plays.

Congrats Wildcats!

Now let's go to Cheney and.... OOOPS! :?

One game at a time, one game at a time... 8-)

Only once in the 5 game series between WSU and UNC has a game been decided by more than 8 points. :shocking:

 Yes, but... Hoke is making fewer mistakes than Cam, and I think our defense is better than it has been, so I am hoping this game will be very different, Wildcat. Not looking for a blowout to embarrass the Bears, but I would like to see Weber put the game away in the first half by using all the offensive tools at our disposal and logging a clean sheet (shut out) on defense for this game.

Props to the WSU pre-game tailgating party, and sponsors too. We were grilling up food and while it was cooking headed over to sample some of the goods. (Loved the ribs, fantastic sauce)

A clean sheet against any remaining foe would impress. I don't remember our last one.
