Thoughts on Trip to UM, *Those That Went*

So, what did everyone think of the trip to UM, the game? The bus ride/flight? The stay? Leaving the stadium?

i know im not a weber fan... but i would like to thank you for all coming to the game and enjoying wa griz.....i have a feeling a new rival has appeared... with the coach comments and smiths comments gettin on the nervs of alot of griz fans...but it will be a fun one. IM GLAD YOU ALL CAME UP. it was a great season by you all and i hope to see you all back in wa griz next year!!!

im sorry about some of the hostility you fans got....but your fans in the south endzone shouldnt have taughnted the Student Section...it cause 90% of the problem....not saying that i am excussing some of the fans behavior.

First of all, SCREW THE GRIZZ, and especially their dumb ass redneck fans. FTG And "F" Missoula
2nd, Bev deserves a raise for all the crap that she had to put up with on this trip. I felt bad for Bev
3rd, If I never have to spend 1 more second of my life in Freaking Deer Lodge Montana I will die a happy man.
4th. We had alot of fun on this trip, and it was great to get to know more Wildcat fans.
5th Next time pray for a bus that doesn't break down.
6th, the goal is to avoid hitting the deer, not the opposite.
7th, I gotta go take a "Baker" i'll post more when Im done with that.

Before the trip I had no reason to not like the Griz. Infact I liked the Griz. I have been to NAU, ISU, and MSU. I have no reason to dislike any of those schools except UM now.

I cant even explain or describe the UM fans at the game, I'll just say they give a new meaning to the word White Trash. I feel bad for the good fans, there were a few...and I mean that literally. From the moment we arrived until the second we got on the bus they were total jerks.

Bev did put up with a lot of crap...it was really pathetic to see how the fans were treating her during the game. Come on Griz, she's a 50+ year old lady. But I'm sure there fans would spit on Bobby Hauke if he was sitting in the visitor stands.

Having the bus break down in BFE, MT was nothing compared to the game, just glad we got out of Missoula.

Overall it was a fun trip minus the loss. All these bus trips we go on to other Big Sky schools are always fun, meeting new WSU fans, enjoying good games, seeing new towns. I just couldn't believe how unhospitable Missoula was.

AJ, I can't believe you wanted to go back to Missoula after having gone there 7 times previous, not sure if I could go again.

Pros: Fun going on a WSU road trip as always, enjoyed watching our team play

Cons: UM fans were very rude, found out why the rest of the conference hates them, a few Griz even got kicked out of the game for getting to friendly with us, hitting a deer, bus breaking down were also cons.

Like I said there were a few good UM fans but sadly we didn't see many of them.

Yes the south endzone felt like a high school game, very pathetic. Having our students next to the UM students was UM's fault and they knew what they were doing. Also, I thought it was tacky splitting up the WSU crowd into 3 sections. As if it would have mattered having us together noise wise. They didnt put us together and there was 5,000 unsold game tickets.

So of course some of our students were getting out of hand because of the UM students. Luckily nothing happened. A few Griz got kicked out and all the WSU fans were able to stay in the stadium for the game.

I've been to a lot of WSU road games for basketball and a few in football - Montana State, Idaho State, NAU, Utah, USU, multiple NCAA Tournament 1st Rds. I've never seen the home crowd at a Weber away game be even remotely that uncivilized and barbaric. It was kinda like high school games because the kids are real immature, Except way worse and they were all drinking.

I thought UM bragging about how much they drink was just because we are a school in Utah so they would sound cool bragging. No, they were totally serious. They bong beer all day long on game day. I was there. So that made things even worse I'm sure.

I felt embarrassed for them with all the stuff they said, the term bigot comes to mind but I don't know if they are just ignorant or what. It's not like this at Montana State, I've been there. Maybe its a Missoula thing, felt like I was in the back woods of Alabama or Mississippi in the '50's.

At first blush I was going to ask: "You were perhaps expecting to play patty-cake with our fans?" But, although I had good fun with some Cat fans, I heard what everyone heard and am sorry to hear what's being posted here. There are many of you who have been here before and know that this game was out of the ordinary. That's a reason, but not an excuse. Apologies.

It's good to hear you are sorry for the way your fans acted, but the majority of the people on egriz.com don't feel that the Grizz fans did anything wrong.

I know it's weak for one or two Griz fans to come in here and apologize but it's all I can do. I have always thought hospitality is the first rule and believed we were generally good at extending it to visiting teams and fans. I am taking aj's report at face value. If I had seen or heard any of what you are complaining about I would have intervened.

To me sounds like you guys whine and cry that you lost...........go look at app.st boards, texas state boards, e wash boards, cal poly boards, AGS board or championshipsubdivision board. 95% of teams and fans that come to missoula think we are the best fans in the FCS country and we have support on how we are the nice fans and so generous and kind. we get comments on our own board from teams THANKING US for the trip.....you guys lost and you guys taughnted our students and crowd. One of you got in a fight cause you guys were all mad you lost. And i have people working the security that said you guys were rediculous.

lets add it all up. Rest of FCS loves the montana fans and atmosphere....vs......you and MSU and MSU is our rival.

HMMM doesnt take a church to tell me what the turn out is right there. Im sorry you taughnted the fans and got it right back in your face...but next time dont blame us! :evil:

we have over 15,000 season ticket holders....you cant move their seats to fit you...MSU students are always in the south endzone and they dont taughnt the griz students like your fans did. i was surprise on how much your students tried to show up ours and it caused alot of #*&@.

GO BIG SKY and we all love big sky football, root for us we rooted for you all year except for the E wash game and our games of course

I went to Montana... and to be really honest, I don't know what the Hell you are talking about!! Why would we taunt your students? There was about 50 students from Weber in the South Endzone enjoying the game, when a huge group of drunk, in desperate need of dental attention, and a new vocabulary students came over and started yelling and spitting in our faces. To say that there weren't hospitable fans would be an absolute and bold face lie, and I'm grateful that I meet some. There were even a few students that I'd have to say can sit by me anytime, but to say that Weber fans started taunting the UM faithful is incorrect and an abject LIE! To cheer for one's team is now considered taunting??? Thats all we did... I WAS IN THE SOUTH ENDZONE!! However, I have heard from Wildcat Club members, those sitting on the 20 yard line behind the team, were treated extremely well and I thank those UM fans for their hospitality and Class. Mtgrizfankb, I'm sure you are a very classy and good person, and I welcome your posts. I hope that UM does well against JMU and represents the Big Sky and the West well.

Glad i am accepted here. you are all welcome on Egriz. i was in the student section. I did notice a few students go get in your grill and that was ridiculous and stupid... the fans on the 20 are ALWAYS treated with the best. the south endzone was a weird situation i guess. there was one woman three men that all they did whenever we or you scored is look at the student section and wave the flag and there paws at us and wave. That is what got everone fired up. The first time the students flipped you off is was like hey now they are not that bad. til three of those four people flipped us off back... it kinda set the mood as if it was ON. LOL. At the end of the game i was trying to find some of you in the S.Ezone to say hi and thankyou but it looked like you already had peaced out. Do you know Ajwildcat?? he seems like he had the worst time...or is blowing it all out of porportion. Not sure which. I thought for the that for the most part before and after the game everyone treated you right i HOPE!!! during the game "STUDENTS WILL BE STUDENTS" that's part of the situation. But hope you all come back next reg. season. i would love to talk in person if ya make the trip.

No I didn't get the worst end of the deal because I am not one who got spat on, and no I am not blowing this out of porportion. WA-Grizz used to be my favorite place to watch a game in the Sky but now forget it.
