Thurs: NAU @ Weber

Last season the Lumberjacks swept us 3-0. The year before that we swept them 3-0.

Weber's all-time record against NAU: 62-26, and at home 39-6.

We got home win #40 against ISU, doing the same against NAU will be nice after the way last season went.

NAU's coach, Mike Adras (pronounced - Ay-dr-ace) has coached the longest of all current Big Sky coaches. Adras took over after Ben Howland (former WSU player and graduate) left for Pitt. Howland now is UCLA's head coach.

Mike Adras in his 10 season and is 85-73 overall and 155-126 in big sky play. Adras is 1 of just 13 coaches to ever get 100 wins in the big sky.

NAU won back-to-back titles in 2006 and 2007 and have played in the last 3 big sky title games. They went to the NIT in 2006.

Adras has now graduated 30 of the 35 players who have finished their careers during his tenure, including 13 over the last five seasons. His teams have recorded the seven highest semester GPAs in the history of the program and posted a program-record 3.09 GPA for the spring semester in 2005.

Anyone who is familiar with big sky bball would tell you that Mike Adras aka "baldy" is one of the top coaches in the conference. And if you know where Flagstaff is or have been to where they play there home games its even more impressive how good NAU has been over the years.

Big Sky Blog: NAU's Josh Wilson

With a win the Cats could claim the Big Sky title outright... For some strange reason I always get a little nervous when the Cats play the bottom feeders of the Sky, especially NAU... NAU, has had some bad luck this season, but could still, I guess, get into the tourny with wins this week. They are still dangerous.

I kinda feel bad for NAU, they have been through some tuff times this year, but unfortunatley thats what they get for breaking team rules.

Never count NAU out... they have an excellent coach who gets the most out of his players. NAU has lost a lot of close games this year, and are coming into Ogden fighting for the last tournament spot. They have a couple of really dangerous and good players who are, unfortunately, going to be around for a while, that can change the atmosphere of a game really quickly. Weber needs to come out ready to go tomorrow... Other than that, for those who are interested, there will be a dew bust prior to the game at the Victory Tree. I'm thinking 5:15...

RANDY RAHE QUOTE

ON NORTHERN ARIZONA: "They have had to adapt the last two weeks after losing Josh Wilson, their outstanding point guard, for the season with broken foot. They also had two other players, Matt Johnson and Jermaine Calvin, dismissed from the team, so they are going with a much bigger and less experienced line up but so far they have played very well together. Cameron Jones is probably the most underrated player in our league. He can score from anywhere on the floor but he plays under control. Shane Johannsen has literally made about everything he’s put up. He’s shooting 80 percent from the field in league play which is unheard of. They still have a chance to get into the tournament, so we expect to get their best effort on Thursday."

Yeah it kinda sucks when you get caught burning the chronic on the road trip to Portland State, can you believe these guys got kicked off the team for that? :D Hell to even make most NBA rosters you gotta be able to burn the blunts. These 2 knuckleheads must have been keeping their stash to themselves and not sharing.
Man that really pisses me off when someone bogarts all the good "lettuce"

So....does Weber State's website offer a working gametracker (box score of some type) that updates the game quicker than ESPN'S or other's snail-like pace?

I just may be dense but I found nothing of the sort on your website.

Thanks.

catcat- I take a bit of offense to your following statement.........

"And if you know where Flagstaff is or have been to where they play there home games its even more impressive how good NAU has been over the years."

Not the ragging on our facilities as, especially the Skydome serving as home court for most games, they are not the best but Flagstaff is a beautiful, clean and friendly town. No, there aren't 100 clubs or malls or entertainment options along those lines but all you need to do is spend a day or two in polluted, hot, traffic and crime ridden Phoenix metro area to appeciate what Flagstaff has to offer. NAU seems to get plenty of kids from inner city LA, San Diego, and Phoenix who perform well and graduate (speaking basketball as I'm up on their NCAA numbers more than other big ticket sports like football) to do just fine while there as well so I don't think recruiting is harder than anywhere else in the Big Sky Conference, save maybe Portland State or Weber State as those two can honestly offer some of big-city vibes.

ajwildcat- Interesting scoop regarding the suspension of Johnson and Calvin. Care to PM me regarding the dirty details. I guess that's something different about NAU than other colleges....unless the local paper prints it the dirt seems to be out of sight.

Oh, and go Jacks! I expect a painful season to come to its figurative conclusion as history proves the Lumberjacks winning at your court tough when at full strength much less down to 7 players getting minutes.

The sheer and utter suckiness of Weber State's bigskytv.org audio connection is only surpassed by the the scattered, shaky epileptic video connection.

This sucks.

Congratulations to the undisputed Big Sky Conference Champion - Weber State Wildcats.

Your team intensity of defense is impressive and McCoy was shooting daggers while having (at least one of) the games of his life.

Pulling for you guys over PSU or Montana if that's the case in the championship game.

Til next season.

Thanks, your team played hard from start to finish, just missing some weapons. I am sure you will come back locked and loaded next year.

Great Win for the Cats, I know NAU was shorthanded, but NAU played tuff. They will be good next year.

Big SKy Champs. Weber State, Weber State, Great, Great ,Great !!!!!!!!!!

Not so much of a dis to the facility as I have been there - though only for football. Mostly my point was the location of Flagstaff, 3 hours from Phoenix and the 7,000 foot elevation.

I think it would be a tough place to recruit to, just shows how good of a coach Adras has been over the years.

Great game for the 'Cats last night. I took my lilttle girl and had a blast. The crowd, though it could have been larger, was very loud and supportive. The Students were lout and fun to watch too. Some of the break away dunks were pretty spectacular too (was it Davis??? See following said little girl).

Overall a great and probably expected win. I really hope the athletic department does something with the time they have before the tourney begins and really sells the games to the community. Wouldn't it be cool to have a sellout for the championship game?

If I were an NAU fan I really wouldn't be worried about the program. This may have been a down year for the Jacks, but I'm pretty sure that Adras will get some quality recruits and continue to rebuild the team. Remember the Jacks have been in the last three conference championship games, and could come back next year and compete for the conference championship.

So did anybody hear Dave Fox get on us on Channel 2 last night for the attendance?

http://www.kutv.com/mediacenter/local.aspx

It's on the top of the sports videos right now.

I did hear what Fox said, and I have to agree with him. He's making the same point that we have been making for years: Fan support for our men in Purple is pathetic.

It gets to the point that I get frustrated walking in their and seeing all 4,000 of them, especially when we are winning.

With the history of this program, we should be averaging 8,000 a game. not 3-4k.

Its almost like most fans dont think its really important.

Dave Fox can kiss my A$$!!! He has no idea of what goes on here at Weber!! When was the last time that he came and actually watched a game, and not as an announcer for another team. When was the last time that he interviewed(intelligently) anyone from Weber State? When they talked to Coach Mac last fall, it was ALL about his time at Utah. Nothing about Weber and our football program. When was the last time they had "The Wizard of Ogden" on their show?? So, Fox, go back to the rock that you crawled out from and do something constructive.
