tight ends

Seems like I am seeing tight ends used more in wide open offenses lately. And it does not seem like the Eagles are using the tight end as much as have been in the past. Montana really burned us several times.
Am I imagining or is this the case?

#9 Zach Wimberly- 17 catches this year, 1.5 per game
#89 Terry Jackson- 8 catches this year, <1 per game
#83 Jake Withnell- 1 catch for the year
total completed passes to tight ends 26 for the year
on another note, the Eagles have 270 total completed passes on 414 attempts and 445 rushes.
Good balance!
Lets open 'er up this Friday.

how many last year? believe it wasn't even close to this number. lots of weapons on this team, should make it hard on teams to defend throughout our playoff run to the Natty :-)

The tight end who hurt us in the Montana game was Mitch Saylor from Camas who was highly recruited by Eastern. He was a wide receiver in high school and was the player most wanted by Eastern that got away - to the griz.

It certainly seems the TEs are getting more action in the passing game this year, but the numbers aren't even close to what we used to be with Overbay. Wish we could get talent like that again at the position.

The tight ends had a significant impact in the PSU game and could have been more so if they didn't trip on the carpet

Overbay and Boyce both put up numbers and made plays that make me wistful for those days!
