time to root for BSC in playoffs

We have 3 teams going to the plyoffs. Montana, Weber & EWU. This is big for our conference. If these teams continue to do well in the playoffs as years past it really opens up to others in the future. Just think 9-2 teams stay home and we are sending a 7-4 team.

Despite what some people think (Montana and the 8 dwarfs) the Big Sky Conference is a quality FCS conference with a lot of depth.
3 teams in the playoffs, 5 ranked in the top 25 and we edged our way up to the middle of the conference.
Contrast that with the Great West, davis was the only team with a winning record at 6-5 and only 5 of those wins where against division one teams. The Big Sky is a good place for us to be at this point as we continue to become more competitive.
Good luck to the Griz, Eagles, and Wildcats I hope that they represent themselves and the BSC well in the playoffs!

You hit the nail right on the head with this one. I couldn’t agree more.

Why is it that in latest TSN poll, Davis and NAU are receiving votes? And Sac State none. We beat both of these teams.

Because most of the voters in the FCS realm are complete morons...

None of these polls reflect reality. They are manipulated by fans and coaches. Northern Arizona was a quality team, the best win we had this year. davis on the other hand was not, 6 wins total, 1 from a division 2 team, 3 wins from transitional teams and only 2 wins (from Portland State and a depleted Cal poly team ) were legit FCS Div 1 teams. In my opinion not a resume to earn respect or a ranking in FCS.
Another joke is the "strength of schedule".

Some would argue that Davis IS a quality win given that they won their conference.

And I would argue that the conference that they are "champions" of is a joke. Herrick at NAU would shreded their pass defense. NAU was a real playoff contender that we beat, davis was nowhere close to that class. I will admit that it was a great night and a pleasure to beat davis but that's only because of the rivilry and the fact that I really hate them!

I agree that the conference is a joke. All sports considered, it extends as far south as Houston and as far east as New Jersey. But people still see the Cow Poly of old and think that the UXDs are semi-close to the XDSUs. Not a chance. But, then, a rivalry game kinda trumps all of that. Regardless of the relative quality of the teams, they TRY harder in a rivalry game. In my book, THAT and not the conference is what makes it a quality win. Of course, one could also argue that we were "that team" at one point in time as a conference champion in a league that wasn't worth squat. Thank God we're not THERE anymore!

Here is the FCS playoff bracket:

Home teams are on the top. WSU has to travel to William and Mary. So there is a possibility to have an all Big Sky Championship, although W&M is a good team, WSU will have their work cut out for them. EWU travels to Texas to play SFA. I know nothing about SFA but if EWU gets its offense going, they could pull the win on the road. Montana hosts a capable and consistent South Dakota State squad. That is a good match up. Montana will have their hands full.

Where is the mighty great west champion representing that powerhouse conference?

I'd like to see Weber or EWU go far, Montana and their fans can bow out in the first game they play.

I agree, I'm rooting for any team that plays against Montana :o . As for WSU and EWU, I hope one of them goes all the way!

Since neither of my choices for the title game made the playoffs, I have to pick new teams. I'm going with Griz vs. Fassels in Chatty.

SH, do tell, who were your teams?

Liberty and Northeastern?

BTW....Northeastern announced yesterday they are dropping football. Too bad as it is really a short sighted move.

GCM, didn't you see my clear myopianism this year? I had Liberty losing the title to Sacred City.

Northeastern never belonged in the CAA. That move cost them their football program. The school has 22k students, so it’s not exactly a small school trying to keep a football program going. Another perfect example of poor adminisatrative decisions and lack of school support resulting in a failed football program. I feel bad for the players and students who will no longer have a football program to rally around.

SDS was a field goal away from beating Minnesota at Minnesota and their conference has some good squads as well. I think this game could go to SDS. I think bot WSU and EWU have a shot against their opponent.
