RB Taiwan Jones will return kickoffs and CB Philip Adams punts Monday night for the Raiders against San Diego, filling in for the injured Jacoby Ford, coach Dennis Allen said.

Neither Jones nor Adams has extensive NFL experience in the return game.

Jones returned eight kickoffs for 165 yards last year as a rookie, averaging 20.6 yards per return. During his career at Eastern Washington, he returned 50 kicks for 1,134 yards and a touchdown. He averaged 22.8 yards per kick.

“Any time coach wants to put the ball in my hands, I'm excited,” Jones said. "I'm glad to be out there.”

...

Jones said he hopes the Raiders win the toss Monday night and he gets to return the opening kick.

“Actually, I'll be happy because once the game is starting, I want to be in there that first play, I want to get the first hit in early,” Jones said. “If we're returning it, then I'm all for it.”

Bump....looks like TJ may get the start this weekend due to injuries with Mcfadden and Goodson. He should at least see the field more, maybe he can make the most of it...

I hope. I knew McFadden got hurt, but was wondering why Goodson had so few carries in spite of that.

I dunno if he will for sure...looks like he only had one carry last week, but he was just coming off a knee injury I believe...so maybe this week will be a bit better.

I love TJ and all he did here at EWU but he should be playing NFL Corner and he could play many years. I am sorry but TJ, as a running back, is a potato chip in a nail and hammer game.

McFadden has been far from effective this year, rushing for just 455 yards in eight games. His 3.3 yards-per-carry average is sixth-worst in the league and the lowest for a Raiders starting running back since Pete Banaszak’s 3.2 average in 1976.

Goodson has shown flashes at tailback with 111 yards on 17 carries and 14 catches for 173 yards but might not be able to go.

That leaves Taiwan Jones (Eastern Washington) as the only healthy halfback. Jones has one carry and one reception all season and has been limited by injuries and ball-security issues.

“That’s obviously something that he’s got to improve on,” Allen said. “He’s got to make sure that he can protect the football and he’s got to make sure that he understands what his assignments are. As we get more comfortable with those things, he’ll earn more playing time.”

Allen said the team would look at bringing in a running back this week as insurance.

Assuming he's near 100%, TJ is the change of pace the Raiders need. McFadden is a tough, north south RB, but opponents know exactly what's coming when Palmer hands the ball to him. He's only got 2 TDs this season. Goodson's only got 1. If Taiwan can get some space on the edge (and hold onto the ball), his speed should make the Raider offense much more dynamic. This is the proverbial "opportunity" for him.

Especially against a very weak Baltimore run D. The stars are aligned for him to have a breakout game. I've had some bad luck with RBs in my fantasy league this year, so TJ is starting for me this week. I hope he makes me look like a genius.

5 total rushes for the team so far and they are down 14. No emphasis on the run YIKES. At least Jones has 1 catch.

I picked up TJ as a free agent this week and started him while benching Steven Jackson. Jackson had a poor matchup against SF, TJ was only two spots below him in the ESPN rankings, and I thought he had way more upside. Jackson scores 11 FF points. :ohno:

Keep emotions out of it.

Yep...bet with your mind not your heart. Still looks like I'm gonna win this week though... :thumb:

Same. I benched Andre Brown (NYG's backup who always seems to vulture a TD in the redzone) in favor of TJ because DeMarco Murray is still hurt and on my bench. My RB lineup this season in FF has been brutal. As long as Robbie Gould doesn't hit anymore FGs, I should be good. :D
