Tournament Chances

If Weber State was going to lose a game this week, the PSU game was certainly a predictable opportunity for it. It meant little more than a chance to play together as a team and try to sharpen for the Big Sky tournament. Having said that, my expectations for this team have come down a bit.

Their reliance on the three-point shot is a big concern. Not because they can't shoot it, and not because they can't win big games with it. Rather, I didn't see Portland State give up much inside the key by extending their defense to the perimeter. Lindsey Hughey was the only guy who showed any ability to create his own shot, and PSU seemed to know exactly how to block Weber's forwards and centers--indicating a limited range of moves from these guys.

In the second round, WSU will play the lowest remaining seed, of either:

#3-Montana State vs. #6-Portland State, or
#4-Montana vs. #5-Northern Arizona

If PSU stays on fire, there's a good chance Weber State gets matched up with them in the second round, not exactly a comforting thought.

We could easily be facing a tough PSU team again in the second round. Depending on which PSU team shows up in Bozeman. They are as talented, and dangerous as anybody even without Nelson. I think their failures and inability to gel fall upon their HC Geving. Waters, Jones, Julius Thomas, and Jamie Jones are tough matchups for our team. If Montana State hadn't swept Portland State this season I would be a little more confident in predicting a Viking win in Bozeman. I think they will, but it should be a really good game. I think I'd rather play anybody in the Semis than Portland State right now.

Weber played a good game yesterday. Unfortunately, the Cats missed a lot of FT's. Something that we dont' see to often. Also, Water and J. Jones had great games. Thats to be expected on SR night when playing your last game on your home floor. What worries me the most about PSU is the rebounding margin. Weber has had a really hard time rebounding against PSU.

No matter, I don't think PSU beats MSU. Not because the Bobcats are better, but because of coaching and preparedness.

dont worry yall, the psu game was meaningless. dont give up hope, this year's team is legit! they gonna be in the title game.

I'd love to see a PSU rematch a week from tomorrow. Too much cocky confidence from a team six games under .500 for my taste.

Weberdude nailed it. I'm feeling a little sik now, the game in Ogden earlier was a very tight game. This is a good ball club that we don't match up really well against. How do we stop Jamie Jones and Julius Thomas Tuesday night they ate us alive last week. Panos didn't play 19-20 minutes though. Anybody think Washington could put a body on Jones to slow him down?

im glad we are playing psu. will be more exciting of a game than playing msu. its good that um and unc get to take each other out.

dont even think we played 100% at psu last week in a game that didnt matter. that game tells us nothing of what we are going to see.

I am not as quick to discount last weeks game, starters were in til the end, and we made a huge push late in the game to close it within 2 after being down 16, Weber wanted to win that game. PSU will enter the Semis with renewed confidence, should be a fun one for sure.
