Tournament format

So if you finish 2nd in league, you only have to win 2 games to get the bid, but if you finish 3rd (with a good chance of having the same record as the 2nd place team), you have to win 4 games...I can hear the 3rd place Montana and Weber fans crying foul already....I don't see that as very fair....and a 5 day tournament would probably be the first time a conference tournament ever lasted that long with games every day.....

Conference announces the tournament formats. Top five seeds get first-round byes. Women play Monday-Wednesday, championship on Friday. Men play Wednesday through Saturday.

And interestingly, they are not re-seeding, so theoretically, the top seeded team could play a higher seeded team in the first round than the No. 3 seed.

I have a crazy idea that would reward the regular season winners and get people talking. The coaches get to pick who they play before each round. The higher seeds picks first. Does anyone know if this has ever happened in sports?

I actually like this proposal...this idea is not crazy at all and it would get the BSC a bunch of press coverage and it doesn't effect the cost savings that led to the neutral tournament site in the first place.... it does add a significant advantage to the higher seeded teams which may keep some of the naysayers quiet....I don;t think it's too late to have this idea incorporated into next seasons tournament...BSC headquarters are in Ogden...time for Olds to really have an impact on Weber St basketball....
