Tournament Time

We start off Tuesday as the very first game of the tournament. We draw Northern Arizona, a team we split with during the season, winning at the Stott Center and losing on the road. Reno is not nearly as high as Flagstaff in elevation, but at 4000 feet it is high enough. We get this game, we turn around and play conference champion North Dakota the next night, ironically another team we split with.

Good match up to start the tourney off. Close loss on the road to NAU, and we pretty much ran them out of the gym for the majority of the game at home.

Pretty wide open tournament this year. UND has looked pretty good, but I didn't expect them to drop that home game to Sac State late in the year.

Nice win.

Pretty bad three point shooting today and we were owned on the boards, but a great finish. Great pressure to force nearly 20 turnovers.

Man, I hope Farris is good to go on Thursday. He looked to be in some serious pain. Get some ice on that ankle ASAP.

If we can pressure like we did today and shoot the three ball better, Thursday could be interesting.

It was nice. I am a bit stunned. Wow, I await Thursday!

Probably time to disband the program, I mean, what's the point? Unless PSU continually contends for or wins the league title nobody cares and since that isn't possible it is best to end the suffering.

It would be good to have a new coach for a new pavilion. The player talent is good, but it is not being coached up sufficiently.

I'm a little curious as to why we didn't press out of the gate today like we did on Tuesday against NAU. The announcers made the same comment. It seems like as soon as we did, we started to crawl back into the game.

Hats off to UND. They were spot on with their shooting today. Their numbers ((FG) 55.9% (3FG) 55.0% FT:94.7%) were like a video game today.

If you want to press for 160 minutes at altitude, good luck.

At LEAST, however, try to make your 2-3 zone look active. Clearly I got spoiled watching UO basketball this year, because their defense is really the thing to enjoy. They're active, they have a virtual freak in Chris Boucher who pressures up high in the zone and still comes back to change shots. PSU reminded me of the 95 UO team that looked about as static on defense and somehow got a 6-seed in the Madness. That team was one and done.
