Transfer portal?

What comes first, the players opting in or do teams list openings? When do guys start "shopping" the transfer portal? What are the chances our coaches will be looking for some help? What might be the Eagles needs? We do seem to be pretty young and have quite a bit of talent in some positions.

And almost immediately upon entering, Roberson picked up a pair of Pac-12 offers.

Arizona State and Washington State both offered the 6-2, 195-pounder.

A couple of outgoing transfers already... have we heard of any incoming? Based on where the team was last year, I think a complete roster reboot is probably in order.
 
Who else entered the portal? After deon sanders got colorado job, he had team meeting this weekend and told all the players to enter portal that he was "bringing in his own luggage" and will be bring some of his jackson state players, his recruits that he was recruiting for jsu , a bunch of new players and that his son will be colorado's qb.
 
What's going on at WSU? Eags don't need a full reboot, they needed a leader who practiced what he preached about competing. Do hope for a couple of upgrades through the portal but not holding my breath... WSU has had a top QB and LB declare for the portal in as many days, doubt Eastern is in the hunt. Early signing is late this year on Dec 21st. Believe, as always, the coaches are working it hard on the recruiting trail.

Josh Jerome just announced today. He's already got an offer from Hawaii.

Roberson also has interest from Virginia Tech.

I've only seen Portland State as Weed's only offer.

Roberson has offers from Tulane, Miss St, WSU, Hawaii to name a few... I'm feeling that Josh announcement. He was by far my favorite player the past 2+ seasons.

Tre Weed has received an offer from Hawaii.

More schools have been in contact with Weed.

"Some of the schools who’ve reached out besides Portland State and Hawaii, have been Washington, Washington State, Arizona, Boise State, Rutgers, James Madison and Utah State," said Weed.

Anybody know how different are teams policies as to declaring? If a player declares and does not get offers they are looking for is a team allowed to take them back or is it NCAA rule that he is out? Do teams want them back?

they can "undeclare"... Ojoh declared when NMSU fired their coach last year (he was a top 10 LB in the portal) and undeclared after meeting the new coach and played at NMSU this year. Assume any player in that situation needs permission to come back to the original program. This is all regulated by the NCAA... :roll:

Saw that. Pretty much our best 3 remaining players on defense and best offensive player.

It sucks, but maybe for the best. A complete reboot may be what’s needed after this season.
 
My guess is if you DECLARE, you’re committed to the portal, and have forfeited your scholarship until you’ve committed (offered scholarship) somewhere. So if you don’t get the desired offers and want to rejoin it will probably be your coach’s decision. For example, would Best want Roberson or Doyle back? Probably.

My guess is the new Portal system benefits coaches/programs looking to fill voids. The posed benefit to players is MAYBE you’ll attract some better school/better fit for you. (playing time, etc)
 
Remember the transfer portal is not acceptable by the general public, only coaches and administrators. So by the time you read an article about the TP that info is already outdated.
I did heat a coach say that on the second day the portal the number jumped by more then a thousand.
The TP window will close January 19th.
