trap game

You wanna talk about a trap game, the Bobcat game this weekend is a classic. The Eagles are not as good as the Cal Poly game score might indicate and Cal Poly is not as bad as the score might indicate, yet if the players believe they are world beaters based on the 70- 17 score they may not take this weekends game as seriously as necessary to win in Bozeman.

For the Eagles, almost any game cold be a trap game.

The 70 points were due to very hungry backups who wanted to make the most of their playing time. Awesome stuff to see. But as someone else said, we did what we were supposed to do against bad teams. I don't feel like we've always done that.

*Maybe I'm alone on an island but I don't think Cal Poly is that bad of a team. They only lost to #8 ranked Weber by 7pts.
*I think we played extremely well and got some big plays off turnovers and what could have been EWU not getting the ball for a second possession until second qtr. (if Cal Poly finished out their second drive) may have drastically changed the dynamics of that game. It spiraled out of control for Cal Poly.
*But what do I know? I do know that Jupiter aligned with Venus in the Seventh Moon and Lucky ended up in Uranus.

Yuck.

Do you really think the Eags players will be looking past this game clawman? Next game is a good SUU @ The Inferno. Granted would rather see the Cats on the Inferno too.

Don't know who feels this is a "trap" game. What makes a trap game? Underestimating an opponent, looking past an opponent, time of day, extensive travel, incontinuity, etc... None of these seem to apply. Looking at the programs some of the Cats players came out of should dispel a trap myth. They are legit.

Cats have a lot of young talent on the roster, not sure it they have the mental strength or maturity to go along with it when facing a relentless, talented attack. Expect a tough contest against an up and coming Cats team on their home turf. As of today, future non trap games include MSU, Weber, UC Davis, SUU. Eag's just don't have a week were they should be off the mark unless several key injuries occur IMO.

My definition of a "trap" is looking past an opponent or underestimating an opponent.
As I mentioned in original post if our players think they are better than they really are, based on the lopsided score, they could very well not prepare for the Bobcats adequately

"IF"? Is it just supposition or something else? You are at all the games so you're insight would be welcome by all on this board. The CP score was just one of those things that can happen when one team is actually that much better than the opponent.

Think that Best seems to have the team pretty focused on what's in front of them, I guess a hiccup or let down is possible. Not prepared to imagine a team state of mind that hasn't occurred to date. Therefore, not a trap game by definition.

This is a talented team; the most talented team in the BigSky from everything I've seen. Doesn't mean they can't get beat.
