Trouble on the Palouse

I saw the cougs board talking about how it appeared that this involved a bunch of Freshman and would not impact the season, but the article mentions a RS Senior (Willie Roach) trying to break it up. Having him there makes me wonder if there were more upperclassmen there than originally thought.

I hope they deal with it and the guilty parties are held accountable and innocent parties are not painted with the "he's a football player, so he must have been involved" brush.

Without a doubt whoever involved in the assaults are in big trouble(players or not). My question is when players sign their player code of conduct forms(on/off the field) do those carry into the off-season/summer?

That's a vicious assault. If it was a player, they should be done for at least the season if not have their schollie yanked permanently.

Saw on last Saturdays news that coach Leach said he was disappointed that when the trouble started that his players didn't leave the party right then. He also said he was going to give the players extra conditioning as punishment.

Extra conditioning isn't punishment, it's just free PT. What's the story with the knucklehead who knocked the kid out?

Knocked him out?? How about kicked his teeth in and shattered his jaw?
Coward

I don't know if Priester was the kid involved, but they announced he was booted from the team right around the time of this incident. Reading between the lines, it would stand to reason that it was recourse from this.

More trouble on the Palouse... Innocent until proven guilty and whatever, but they sure have had a problem with assaulting fellow students in Pullman. The Seattle times mentions that "he was arrested and charged with second degree felony assault and later released."

"Luani transferred to WSU from City College of San Francisco in 2015 and started 13 games for the Cougars at free safety last season. He led the team with four interceptions and had 90 tackles and was named an All-Pac-12 Honorable Mention selection."

I'm sure that wont factor in when it comes time for WSU to discipline.

To Mike Leach's credit, he hasn't put up with a lot of crappy behavior form his players. His first year in Pullman, he released three starters. You can always point to a couple of guys on each team who are total dipshits, but you can't really measure the program on those two guys. And guess what? I'm sure we have those guys on our team, too.

I'm sure the coaches don't like losing a player who had the potential to contribute to the team but even moreso dislike the constant distraction of players being arrested.
Maybe they should have had their remote fall camp in Walla Walla

Sounds like very little is going to happen as a result of this incident. Leach said he thinks it was totally overblown. Since none of us were there, I can't really argue. It's pretty easy for the fanbase of the opponent to say these are the actions of a crooked program, but I don't think that is fair. There were probably a lot of people who thought the Montana QB was guilty of rape just because he was the Montana QB; of course, wehn all the facts came out in trial, it turned out to be as bogus of a rape case as could possibly exist.

From what I read of the trail the jury could not say it happened beyond a reasonable doubt. Not a bogus charge just not beyond reasonable doubt, so he walked.
