Troy Taylor Candidate at Washington?

This guy and other speculators on the UW message boards believe Troy Taylor is in Seattle this evening interviewing for the Washington HC job.

I hope he isn't hired away from us. Can't blame him for taking it if he is offered. He'll get generational changing money in a location with no state income tax.

Doubt that is true…. Hope it isn’t true!
Troy Taylor took the job for stability for his family and kids to finish HS amongst family and friends in Sactown hence the length of his contract.
I think the job that he would be most interested in would be at his alma mater CAL if that opened up,

Yet...the powers that be are working on creating one here.

I'd love to put the kibosh on this, but given what just happened at Oklahoma, I'll believe ANYTHING. Whoodathunk Lincoln Riley would bolt for U$C while Oklahoma was still in the hunt for the bogus CFP and that (while Bob Stoops is coming back to serve as interim HC) they would try to make a play for Kliff Kingsbury at the 9-2 Arizona Cardinals? While I highly doubt Kingsbury would make THAT move, I wouldn't have thought that Riley would have moved, either....

It is hard to imagine any scenario where the big money boosters tied in with the program at UW will be ok with hiring an FCS coach. Based on what USC just pulled off, there will be a lot of pressure on the AD for a splashy hire. Not necessarily the best hire but one that will impress the fan base.
I really hope I am correct as I would hate to see Coach Taylor move on.

IMO, the above seems important as it had been rumored that Cal’s current HC Justin Wilcox might take that job therein opening the Cal gig.

I’m of the strong the belief CAL is the potential opening we should be most concerned about. As long as Wilcox stays put, we are likely safe.

Reasons are plentiful.

One, based upon Taylor’s own comments both past and present, I don’t believe he’s wanting to leave the area right now, if ever. However CAL just might be “close enough”.

Two, unlike every other FBS program, CAL has a special connection to Taylor thus just might be more motivated to hire an FCS coach. And could sell the hire to boosters much more easily than elsewhere.

Thirdly, I don’t see Taylor leaving for an FBS program not in a P5 conference. Like a Fresno or San Jose State. And beyond CAL, I agree that there won’t be many if any P5 programs willing to hire someone (or able to convince boosters) that only has 2 years success coaching an FCS program.

It took Craig Bohl 11-seasons at NDST to get the gig at Wyoming then his successor Chris Klieman coached 5-seasons before getting the Kansas State gig.

And both those coaches won 7 Nat’l championships between them. Meanwhile Taylor hasn’t even managed a playoff win yet.

In summary, let’s be glad the CAL gig isn’t open.

A U$C analyst associated with USA Today was convinced that Wilcox was heading to Washington. (Edit: that was editor up-selling in the headline; the actual writer only mentioned the possibility.) That obviously didn't happen. A Chron writer thinks it's time for Wilcox to move on (you have to have a subscription to read the entire article, it seems).

I'm not convinced of ANYTHING at this point. It's doubtful that either Wilcox OR Taylor jump ship for Fresneck. I have no idea what the Cal AD will ultimately do with Wilcox if he doesn't take the leap himself, but at this point, we have to respect Taylor's statement that he's not leaving. I believe that he's where he wants to be, and the results are speaking for themselves.
